I just started Wellbutrin last week and looking forward to this journey. My energy levels have been great and I’m already getting less brain fog. But at same time, I started prepping myself to make changes other than the meds. I disconnected from social media which I will do for awhile, no dating, more gym time and I’m hitting the vitamin supplements and eating better. I just turned 40 and was extremely resistant to medication and just tried therapy hoping I could do all this on my own and “fix it” but finally realized I’ve had years and years of issues that require medication to get to a better place. Thank you for these videos. They are really helping me educate myself.

Probably 300 or even 450mg? I just started 150mg XL, but my doc reduced my Vyvanse dose from 70mg to only 30mg, to not get "overhyped"... I'm on day 5 and so far only have negative effects, tired/no energy/can't concentrate. Wellbutrin feels nothing like a stimulant to me, I could sleep on this drug without problems!
@FromDesertTown8 күн бұрын
@@Kikwatz The reason you can sleep with Wellbutrin is that it is a very long-acting drug, much weaker than Vyvanse. 70mg is a high dose of Vyvanse. Going from 70 to 30 is a *drastic* change. I'm sure that will not be offset by Wellbutrin even if you took 600mg/day. I've been on 450mg Wellbutrin for years, and it does nothing now. Even when I first started on it, It never had the effect that stimulants like Adderall or Vyvanse do. Part of the issue is that Wellbutrin is so long-acting that you build tolerance to it. It does not speed up executive functioning in the brain nearly as much as stimulants do (if it did, you would not be able to sleep while taking it due to how long-acting it is). I think people like Wellbutrin for other reasons - the slight mania, positive sexual side effects, etc. which last for a month or two before wearing off. Then they convince themselves that if they go off of it they will feel terrible, so they stay on it a year or more later, even though it no longer works (although they may delude themselves into thinking it still works). I suspect that is the case with the creator of this video. The whole point of ADHD medication is to speed up executive functioning. Bupriopion XL does that a little for a while, until it stops working. Stimulants are much more potent and effective at helping with ADHD symptoms. Personally, I'm planning to taper off of Wellbutrin and just continue using stimulants for ADHD.

Wellbutrin was amaze-balls for me in the first month. It shot me out of depression and blew out the shadows from my brain like a hurricane. Didn't make me euphoric or happy - my life circumstances didn't change, but now I could handle them. My mental energy turned around from 20% of the day to 100%. Sleep was a deep restful 7-8 hours, and that has been that way since I started. Experienced 0 side effects like tinnitus, sensitivity to light or a shorter fuse (anger). Wellbutrin's effects started to taper off in the 3rd month. Now in month 8, I have a new baseline of mood and mental acuity. Not as crazy-high as month 1, but still much much better than pre-Wellbutrin. Complementing Wellbutrin with exercise, nutrition and TMG/Curcumin/Vitamin B/magnesium/Omega 3 supplements. No caffeine after 1 pm.

I’m a 60 year old male with depression and ADHD. Wellbutrin (300XL) has been a game changer for me. I have more energy, focus, sex drive and, thank goodness, happiness. Eight weeks of Zoloft was hell for me, so now I’m on a taper dose but I may choose to stay at 25mg, nonetheless. Each person responds differently to different meds.

I take Wellbutrin for ADHD and it has helped me with focus and detachment from emotions, so I’m not as impulsive. I do have sensitivity to light and muscle spasms and jerks. I also sometimes have pressure in my left eye. I have found taking a multivitamin and extra potassium to counteract some of those issues to be helpful. It has helped me to feel more rested and it’s has heightened my sexual desire and reaction. For me the side affects don’t outweigh the benefits. Oh also, it decrease my appetite a little and has helped stop my desire to smoke and drink alcohol so yeah it works for me.
@homelessrobot Жыл бұрын
It has helped me with the emotional side of things, but not the ability to focus/control my attention. I also feel more rested/less sluggish in the morning on it. But i feel more gross at night, which is a bit annoying because im usually a nighttime person so I am used to delaying most of my cognitively demanding activities until the afternoon/evening, at which point I feel the least capable being mentally active now. I am also generally sensitive to anything that induces spasm. Things like diphenhydramine (benedryl) i have to take very cautiously because even slightly more than my theraputic dosage triggers rls type symptoms and completely overtakes the calming effects i use it for to get to sleep. And of course i cannot even take that at all now on welbutrin. Maybe i could take an extremely low dose, but it already persists in my system well beyond the nominal duration of effect, and I think welbutrin also interferes with the enzymatic breakdown of it so the effects are even stronger and persist even longer while on welbutrin. I wasn't aware that it interacted with diphenhydramine until i experienced it first hand. I could feel the diphenhydramine lingering for 2 or 3 days after just 1 25mg dose. Not fun.

This is the first time that I’ve had a day that was “okay”. I realized wow today was OK. I wasn’t filled with negative thoughts and the constant barrage of judgment from my voice. I was discouraged because people mentioned they felt the effects of Wellbutrin within days and weeks. After three months, the slight headaches went away and the only side effect I have is loss of appetite. Paired with a sleep medication this has been great. I’m about five months in and my days are 50% better than they have been for years.

Thanks for your video, Keita. I was prescribed effexor after a significant stress-induced nervous breakdown. Had been on it for almost a decade but generally felt "mentally nauseous". Added WELLBUTRIN last year, and for the first 3 days I felt wonderfully NORMAL again... enthusiastic and motivated, and not in a manic way. It was glorious. On day 4, it was gone, and I returned to feeling tired and unmotivated. Doubled the dose after a few months, and so far all I can report is that I generally now feel "whimsically indifferent" or "politely apathetic". I don't feel the dark cloud anymore, but I really have to push myself to get anything done. No anger or edgieness or irritability. I do feel the dry mouth, and I hadn't made the connection, but it might explain why my childhood facial tic is back.

Your comment about anger and rage is very interesting. I have never taken an antidepressant, but I have done other modalities for mental health issues, including talk therapy, meditation, deep conscious breathing, neurofeedback, etc. All of those things have always led to feelings of rage afterwards. I did a neurofeedback session once and came home and took a baseball bat and destroyed my matress and bed. Then I quit neurofeedback lol. Sometimes when I meditate for more than 20 minutes I sometimes make loud angry noises and my face becomes really stiff and angry/mean looking. It just happens--I don't force it. I think one of the root causes of mental health issues (and somatic physical pain) is repressed unresolved anger/rage. I think we all need to face our own unconscious rage at some point. For me the rage eventually has reduced the more I was able to face it. Running from your rage does not help, but also joining your rage and becoming angrier doesn't help. Spiritual teachers say you need to tend to your rage like it is an angry baby. You do it with love and compassion, completely nonjudgmentally. Anyway, I believe you are totally correct that you have to accept your anger, not think it is a problem with the medication. Your mind is opening up. Bottled up emotions are coming to the surface for integration. It sounds like the medication is helping you work through all of that.

@Keita_thecyankat Жыл бұрын
I hope medication is going to work out for you, and surely let me know how it goes if you want to because maybe smth will be different, you never know. As for anger - I spoke my mind when things irritated me (even raising my voice), I did not apologize to people or about situations if it wasn’t my fault. My anger gave me more strength to respect myself and be unapologetic about who I am. Sometimes I threw things around but those were usually things that could not break, like clothes or pillows. I didn’t hold the anger in. My friend who studies psychology suggested that screaming in a pillow is a very effective way and I tried that too when I was really really angry. It helps a lot but also makes you cry uncontrollably for a while. I think singing in full voice if you can could help release the energy. Also when I had mild irritations I just wrote everything down, every single detail on a paper to let it out and then forgot about it. It also helps a lot if you have someone with you who knows what you are going through, and they are not frustrated with your emotions but listen to your angry ramblings instead. That makes you feel like your anger is validated. Also you really gotta think and pinpoint what is the exact reason for your anger and who or what you are angry at. Helps to deal with resolving it internally. And then the last is I guess you gotta work on forgiving - first of all yourself - that this happened to you, that you couldn’t protect yourself, that you let this happen, or that you didn’t know any better at the time, or that you were forced to sacrifice and supress and nobody noticed, you know, everything that applies to you. And then you can move on to forgiving others. I hope this helps and I guess I have to make separate video about the anger issue :) I will let you know here if I do

I had a horrible time when my docteor put me on Wellbutrin for bipolar 1. My experience involved not only me being put on Wellbutrin, but also valium, trileptal, and another one I can't remember. I gained 50 lbs and was a nervous wreck who was afraid to leave my house. I have permanant damage from it. Now I am on Latuda and nothing else. I get through the day OK now. I rmember the muscle jerks. On Wellbutrin, there was a total lack of self care or self awareness in general that affected my social life in a negative way.

@kawosdhdos Жыл бұрын
@@melliecara well the insomnia went away after the third night, so i only had insomnia for 1 day. My energy levels actually arent much higher; theyre just normal. However, wellbutrin helped my depression significantly. Im no longer suicidal, i can enjoy things and i can go to school again (my depression was so bad that i could not go to school. Just felt severely suicidal all the time). So thats been good. But i have been getting headaches for the last 2 and a half weeks (they fking suck), and just when they seemed to go away, my psychiatrist increased my dose (now 300mg) and today i have and had an annoying headache. On the plus side, the headaches have gotten milder.

I loved Wellbutrin (Brand only) I only took 100mg a day. When I got off of it after a few years my brain had been reset and I never went back to that "stay in bed" depression I used to get. Also, I was allowed to skip a day if I felt too hyper. It was fine. I got off it very easily too.

this is why I was slowly weaning off of it for 5 months. Like really, really slowly decreasing the dose, giving myself a lot of time and I didn’t experience any problems. Now the only things I’m noticing are that I’m waking up earlier and not being able to go back to sleep, which is fine by me since I was waiting until the last minute to get out of bed for work. I also did have vivid dreams last night and I think I’ve noticed some tiny muscle spasms here and there. Overall though I’m feeling better than before and want to continue taking it while also looking into some kind of counseling/therapy or just focusing on maintaining healthy habits.

About sleeping routine, here in Poland you have dr Jóźwiak. He is a specialist in AHDH and he says the problems with sleeping routine is caused by the lack of melatonin’s in our brains, it kicks out later in adhds brains, and that’s why people with ADHD might have a problem with regularity in sleeping routine, also due to it a lot of people don’t feel hungry on the morning, usually eats their first meal at noon time. He suggests taking melatonin 2 hours before planning going to bed, and it really helps to set the new sleeping routine, and believe me- I had a problem with regularity wit sleeping since like 10 years old. And now - when taking 3mg on the evening (usually at 9pm) I sleep better, wake up with no alarm clock, and feeling fresh and full of energy. Also have more dreams during the night. It really is worth trying. 3mg is a medium dosage available in pharmacies here in Poland. There is 1,3 and 5mg available. You do have also ADHD have you?😁

I dont feel euphoria per ce, but i definitely have a spike in motivation and a tiiiny bit of that energetic feeling. Like maybe one tenth of the feeling i had on adderall or vyvanse. The irritation is FOR REAL. Im not an angry person but man, i really feel that irritation. This crossed over to my dreams aswell. I havent noticed any change in frequency of dreams or anything, but they do tend to be irritated dreams now, which isnt the best really and definitely not the kind of dream i like to wake up from, lol.

If you're still feeling that way on the medication and you had anger inside of you is still not really great to be on that medication because that is a side effect I realized with Wellbutrin did it sometimes was Target what you have felt or what your trauma has been and sometime it could stay there and it's not going anywhere and with that being said it's time to get off of it because you don't want to be in that place you want to be able to deal with that but not also have that as an issue suppressing up against you

Any issues with hair falling I read about it.. also can you talk about eventually stopping the drugs? I heard bad things about it. Or your thoughts on it? I just got the script but too scared to actually take it. I used to take lexapro but it made me lay in bed. I heard this does the opposite. I’m actually taking this (or should be) for anxiety and heart rate/palpitations. Said I need to reduce stress levels.

It is hard for me to objectively comment on hair loss because I have been losing hair slowly for the last 15 years (I presume because intense anxiety and critical vitamin D). So I have been actively trying to combat my hair loss with all kinds of treatments, and I can say that in the last year I have seen more hair growth than loss. I cannot say that I have noticed wellbutrin making my hair fall out. As for being scared - nothing will happen overnight (unless some sort of allergic reaction). It is a slow process. Allocate some free chill time for yourself like a week or two if possible just to see how you are feeling, what are your side effects and if there is any positive change. Then you will understand if you should continue or quit. And yes I can talk about my idea of how I am going to quit wellbutrin when it is time. Thanks for the video idea !
