There is a reason why power tool batteries have cells of such small capacities that go without protection circuits. They are simply much more robust and more difficult to explode than high capacity cells that push it to the limits and NEED protection circuits.
@harleyme31636 жыл бұрын
nothing to do with protection.. you know its only the voltage thats matter since they only draw the amperage that they require to function.. and if you think there's some special anti battery exploder.. most charging circiuts stop charging when its gets feedback (battery full and charge is coming back since battery isnt taking it.. you cannot overcharge a battery if you use a proper charger.. they are meant for specific amp bat's there for specific VOLTAGE..just takes longer to charge a bat with higher capacity

@@harleyme3163 No! These Lithium cells are not self-balancing, like Nickel ones! You can have e.g. 6S1P battery with a total full charge voltage of 25,2V, but it doesn't mean that all cells will be 4.2V. It takes just one cell with slightly different internal resistance or lower capacity to throw the pack out of ballance, e.g. you will have five cells at 4.15V and one overcharged at 4.45V.

Some advice: NEVER dismantle fairly modern tool batteries with a long, steel blade. A small accidental short so easily wrecks the management system, rendering repairs and upgrades useless. I use a Dremel-type drill with mini steel cutting disc, and cut through all the connection strips in situ....then I can remove the strips off the individual batteries in safety, so as they can be used in less demanding appliances.

@Rendus46 жыл бұрын
Soldering the cells does physical damage to the cells, but the general concensus is that the cells do not lose capacity or life cycles as long as the soldering heat was only applied for a few seconds, so be sure to use a 200 watt+ soldering iron and not the typical 30 or 60 watt ones.

Hi! Is it possible to double capacity of Hilti cordless powertool like drill 22v 3.3Ah?
@pr0xZen5 жыл бұрын
Maybe. Check inside, how its assembled and what cells are in it, ot will tell you whether there's really any gains to be had, and if it's feasible to do the job (this battery pack was frankly on the easy end of the scale to replace cells in, among modern power tool battery packs). But top shelf power tool manufacturers like Hilti rarely skimp on cell quality. Maximum capacity ain't everything though. Besides that and cost, ere's (sustained) discharge current, behavior in really cold or warm temperatures, long term capacity retention, lifetime charge cycles ratings etc. Can't have the best of everything in one cell, it's always a compromise. Some tool "system" manufacturers even offer special battery packs tuned for special needs, like arctic or super hot surroundings, and ofc the more typical high-demand (high discharge current) ones for super torque'y tools like hole hawgs, big impact wrenches, sawzalls, concrete hammers etc.

The reading was as they are shipped or for long term storage roughly between 3.4V to 3.8V Long Storage at Full capacity can damage them and is unnecessarily dangerous, due to high energy density. It's a risk of fire or explosion if short circuited or otherwise damaged He was only looking to see if they were all roughly the same ie. There are few brands has the similar capacity, output etc. but almost twice as expensive. li-ion batteries should become more powerful, more capacity, more life and cheaper. Not less capacity and more expensive, as those recently know Yellow and Black and the shiny purple battery brands do. I am sure you know these brands.

Nice way to build a bigger ah battery, but as others have said, they have chips in them now to prevent over charging the battery. They can only be charged a number of times and my Makita batteries talk to my drills to prevent overheating and very low power in battery that it won't charge. You will also lose your warranty on any of your tools that you use that battery on. If that battery was to cause a fault in any of your drills then you wouldn't be able to claim any warranty.
@adamshandyhands23466 жыл бұрын
No, but if my pillows and mattresses are faulty I can claim a repair or exchange as they have the manufactures stiched logo/name on them. If not (like a pillow case) which some have a stiched tag on them which I leave on, I would usually find a fault within a few uses. But with this battery it looks very dodgy to any manufacture and they will want to test the batteries and drill that became faulty. They will want to check the battery used in the drill when it stopped worki g or became faulty. If they find that you used a non genuine battery then you will have no manufactures warranty at all and will be paying a premium to have your drill repaired.
@adamshandyhands23466 жыл бұрын
halojump123 It's the manufactures logo that is on every genuine battery and with this one anyone will be able to tell it is a fake. Plus what about the weight, wouldn't want to be using this battery for a full charge in one go or even for a full day where overhead drilling is needed, it would be easier on your arms and body to use a lighter battery and change it if needed. Also, how would OHS like you using this battery on site or even just to see it on site would be a problem. They would need to see all documentation regarding extensive testing and safety.
@Brettj776 жыл бұрын
They already do a 6 amp, so the weight wouldn’t be any different, I use it on my cordless rattle gun all day, if you can’t handle the weight, maybe hit the gym. Any site I’ve ever worked on couldn’t give a shit with stuff like that, and it’s not like he’s done anything dodgy, he’s done exactly the same as the manufacturer, exactly! Do you hear a collective sigh when you enter any area when people are talking?
