For those with doubts, read The Pleasure Trap as Dillon recommends. At some point you have to deal with the emotional pain you are suffering. We humans can attach all kinds of experiences to our behaviours - we are complex beings after all. But having experienced this issue myself, there comes a point where you do have to make conscious choices about what you want to do in your life. It doesn't mean dismissiveness about trauma imo, it means a reality check and deciding on self love. Food shouldn't be the only thing in our lives, nor the only thing we turn to. In other words we do have choices, we really must decide to make this choice, not that choice.

When rats have a rich environment with plenty of friends, they don’t push the cocaine button. Since foods that contain fat, salt, and sugar are addictive, it makes sense you’ll be able to resist if you have a strong social base and enriching hobbies. Turn to things besides food ❤

I attribute Alan Goldhammer to kickstarting me becoming vegan. I did a 35 day water fast following his advice (Goldhammer DOESNT recommend fasting if your not being medically supervised.) He convinced me to break my fast with a whole plant based diet. Spent two weeks prepping to break the fast. Shortly after I broke the fast I watched cowspiracy. What really turned me vegan was watching Earthlings and Dominion. I’ve never cried more in my life.

Thank you for this!!! Many years ago I tried using My Fitness Pal multiple times and it kept telling me to eat 1200 calories a day. Even as a very petite female I was starving and could never get below 1500. I thought there was something wrong with me or I wasn't disciplined enough. Also I'm amazed at how many people swear by intermittent fasting. It does not work for me. I get really hungry and end up with a headache and low energy. The way that I've lost weight recently is adding a green smoothie in for breakfast every day. I also allow myself one snack a day that I 'shouldn't' eat.....like a mini peppermint patty or something. This way I don't feel deprived but don't let myself pig out on junk which I can do without batting an eye. 😅 Anyway, thanks for this awesome, straightforward video!!

I binge eat due to boredom. Best resolution for me is to get away from home and walk for hours on end. It keeps me fit and helps with weight control so that when I get home, I can eat more lovely potatoes and beans.

Our bodies like to expend less energy with anything. (I.e. eating a bag of kettle chips, buying clothes rather than making them, earning money from sedentary efforts as opposed to digging ditches, etc.) But life is hard, and nothing is easy. Everything you say makes total sense. Keep up the great work. I need your plant rants!

Hey Dillon, your timing is excellent. Thanks for making this video! I've been following a vegan lifestyle since July and going into about a 1200-calorie deficit daily. Unfortunately, I hit a plateau and ended up binging these past few weeks. I have learned to give myself grace and continue to move forward healthily. Now I am starting to see a healthy weekly loss.

Due to a viral attack just after surgery many years ago I have been left with 'nerve damage' (The consultant likened it to some one cutting through a wiring loom then getting the ends and holding them together but shakily). I get random pains etc 24/7 (very sharp, level8-10). What I also get with regards to food is that once I start eating, I find it very difficult to stop (knowing when I am full as the signals to my brain don't work sometimes) I can literally eat until I am sick. I don't want to and stop myself. Trouble is my body still feels very hungry (even if I have just eaten) Hungry as in stomach cramps, pain, dizziness, stomach 'growling' etc. This I have found very hard to sort out. I generally eat WFPB (90% of the time) but tbh it's not what I eat, it's eating generally. I tried just eating very low density food but as has been said you wont bing eat on peppers, yet I would still have this problem of not being satiated.

We binge because the combination of fat and sugar in foods is very addictive. We binge because of emotional reasons and trying to cope using food. We binge because we undereat and so we're reactive binging. I'm speaking as a longtime ED sufferer who's 6+ years vegan. I'm now in a restrictive phase, so no binging. There's more reasons than one for binging, and it's much more complicated than just the composition of the food.❤️

I’d been losing consistently two months and feeling great and then as soon as I started logging my calories at 1200 I binged! You know it’s interesting you came out with this. This 1200 calorie diet is being pushed again. It was doctors go too for years and it wasn’t sustainable then. However it’s difficult to find the right spot. Someone else put it we’re doing this for health not just weight loss. And we need to understand our weight will fluctuate, just in a general down ward motion. That being said I’m one health fat lady. Old and stubborn after this wfpb life. If I have to get a RD for this it’s gonna work! Doctor is watching.

Don't believe the naturally skinny myth. Before eating wfpb I was skinny, but only because eating SAD food made me feel sick. So much so, that many of my calories came from sugar, so I could avoid eating larger volumes of food. At the time, I thought everyone felt ill when they ate. I erroneously thought that was the feeling of being full. I heard a lot of "I wish I were skinny like you" and "You must have good genes". Well, I guess feeling sick when eating SAD food is a kind of good genes; it's resulted in me eating healthier after all. I did not have crazy strong will power or skinny genes. What I had was pain and malnourishment. So, don't envy those people whom you think can eat anything and stay thin; they can't. That's a fairy tail. Now that I eat wfpb, no oil, and no sugar, I feel great. I love feeling full (maybe a little too much, lol). I love eating. I totally understand the pleasure trap now!
