Today, I made a super easy dump-n-go recipe myself! I had some fresh chopped veggies in the freezer (green, yellow, red bell peppers, along with chopped onion, and chopped tomato) so, I dumped about 9 bell peppers, 2 onions, and 10 tomatoes in my biggest saute pan. On highest heat I cooked it covered to a full boil for a minute or two, until the veggies gave up their broth, then simmered medium high for 12 minutes. To that I added a 12 ounce tomato paste, chile de arbol (any hot red pepper would work of course) garlic powder, onion powder, and some (about 3/4 pound dry equivalent) leftover lentils seasoned with salt-free lemon pepper. I served it with brown rice, and whole wheat bread. Was DELICIOUS! (note - I got all my bell peppers on sale, 39 cents each! I always search for sales, and only buy what's on sale. Saves me probably $200 a month! If the squash, eggplant, and kale had been on sale, that's what I would have used. Be flexible!)

Dillon, I just made this for dinner tonight. Even with all my mistakes it tastes amazing. I forgot to use hot water so it took a while for the InstantPot to get up to speed. Also I used too much water. When done, it was real soupy. I ended up pouring some over rice and dumping the rest into a Dutch oven so that some of the water would evaporate, which it did. This Starch Blaster is so so delicious. I can't stop eating it. Now I'm trying to remember what I put in it so that I can do it again. I didn't have soy curls so I chopped up some mushrooms. Thank you so much!

Have I told you lately that I love you guys? I'm using the dried vegis in so many ways, like ramen... so good with lots of great herbs, and spices. Then I have made meals of either brown rice or wild rice mix (2c) together with a half c of green or yellow split peas, and frozen chopped greens. Great as is or as a base for other vegis. Love the taste, and ingredients. Now to get the broth powder. I use a lot of broth, and expect to love the new broth powder. Thanks for being so creative.

@tootssuite23
@tootssuite23 2 ай бұрын
Using a stick pot or slow cooker is just as easy, it just takes longer. Do t fret. Just allow yourself to adjust the time and cook until it's done. Try it once in either crock or stove top pot and then you'll be able to do it again. This was made long before Instant Pots came on the market. Don't let the lack of an appliance keep you from heating this healthy way. It works no matter what you use as a cooking utensil. Best of luck.

Do you have any dried vegetables available? Maybe from online places? If not, and I know this would require a bit of work up front, do you have a food dehydrator? There are lots of videos on making dried veggies. Some are easy, as you start out with frozen vegetables, the kind that are cut small to begin with. So you could dehydrate vegetables, especially when you find a great sale. Just an idea
@tosca...
@tosca... 9 ай бұрын
@@marlies7444 Thank you, I'm aware of 'how to'. But I don't have a dehydrater and no room to keep one in my new kitchen (having just recently moved house). @@WellYourWorld Thanks, Dillon and Reebs, but another difference between life in Oz and life in the States is that we have nowhere near the variety of frozen veges available. I often sigh when you put frozen diced onion, sweet potato or fire roasted corn or tomatoes or grated potato, or, any number of things like tinned tomatoes without salt and so on. Our frozen range is very limited: broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, peas, French beans (string/green), mixed carrot and peas, mixed French beans, carrot and peas, chopped spinach, and an endless range of peas, green beans, broccoli, cauliflower and corn mixes, stir fry mix (add snow peas and chunky pieces red capsicum to carrot, peas & broccoli). I've heard a supermarket I don't go to has frozen onion but they are never in stock when I specially go to buy them. But that's it, the cultural legacy of bad British cooking in frozen form. What would they do without frozen chips and green peas? 😂 😭 Dillon, you will appreciate it forces us to have knife skills! 😄 I have since thought I can stick a bunch of as different veges as I can think of and find in the food processor then spread on a large baking tray and put on a super low heat to mimic dehydrating in the oven. Vegetables available at my local Food Co-op are fresh and locally grown, but it can be a bit of pot luck plus seasonal. They have powdered beetroot, lol (lots of good organic grains, nuts, tofu, tempeh and vegan sriracha, 'fysh' sauce etc, etc). We are lucky in having good quality non gmo fresh veges and fruit in our supermarkets fortunately. Having a large population with good soils allows your diversity I think, whereas Oz is more or less the same size as the US but it's the driest continent with a population of 26 million. I'm sure many of your followers from other countries have lots of culturally specific produce too.

Nothing is as cheap any more. But inflation has gone down a lot. The problem is the rich billionaires and multi millionaires don't put prices down so they can keep making super profits from those who can least afford it. Consumer watch dogs who shop for baskets of food to monitor prices still find that vegan food baskets are cheaper than all others. It's always more expensive if you're buying meat and dairy though

After the lid comes off throw in vegetables, stir it around. Put the lid back on for a few minutes and they should be done.
