Robert Masterman Flat as a pancake here Bob. My Dutch wife took me to Snowdonia back in 1981, never been there before. Actually my Dutch wife took me all over the UK, The Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, Scotland and many more places of outstanding beauty. I couldn't believe my eyes and sometimes thought i was dreaming, thinking this can't be the UK, but it was indeed. A real city boy who had no idea how blessed we are with our amazing countryside!!

More of the same high quality as part 1 Bob on a beautiful day too! The more I see this loco the more I'm impressed by it's build quality and the high standard of it's restoration. The coaching stock too seems finished to a very standard, and the stations are beautifully maintained. It was really bowling along at a speed far higher than one normally associates with a narrow gauge line. I liked the shot of the peak of Snowdon. My son and I were pondering the interesting civil works along the line which must have quite costly to install. I'm always excited to see a line, especially of this length, restored from dereliction to such a high standard and it was a minor miracle (if there is such a thing as a minor miracle!) that the funding was provided to carry out the work. Well done to the Railway Company directors, the Welsh Tourist Board and all associated parties for having the vision and to carry out and complete this wonderful project. Well done Bob, great viewing! Best wishes. Ken

I visited Porthmadog for a day back in 1989, It was such a lovely place and all week long the weather was lovely too. I wouldn't mind going back again to see all that lovely scenery again. Also that week we visited Portmeirion. Well done, and thanks for sharing.

You really have the angels on your side, Bob. Snowdon summit without cloud! Your telephoto shots at speed showed me more of the summit than I actually saw when I took the train to the top, many years ago. Your Panasonic continues to impress....Mervyn

Two wonderful videos, Bob. What a stunning line. I haven't been to the area for many a year. I think I'll have to make a trip in the next couple of years. I'll need a clear day like you had though. And that Garratt looked some machine. Keith

More fantastic shots Bob, that locomotive with its unconventional wheel arrangement looks very powerful as you mention in the first clip, what is the speed on this line? It looks to be shifting along at a better rate than the Vale of Rheidol Railway!
@robmasterman9 жыл бұрын
JPMiller14 The articulated wheels allow these locos to negotiate sharp curves Justin, but still allows the power that they can deliver...as to the max speed on the line I'm afraid I don't know that one...Bob

Would love to see one of these Garratt Class locomotives on the current open section of the Lynton and Barnstaple railway. With no bridges or nasty tight curves (yet) I don't see why one couldn't operate on the railway. The loading gauge may change in the future if the planning application for the extension is passed but the Ffestiniog have been good to supply visiting locomotives for L&B Gala's so perhaps we may see it happen. Anyone else share my view?
