They confirmed this back in 1.0 in Welt backstory page the English team never translated for some reason. Welt and Void Archive arrived to HSR by themselves and got stranded on a planet due to running out of fuel. When Himeko found them, Welt stayed with Himeko and became her first crew member while Void Archive went off on his own.

How she and pompom received SOS signal from unknown ship in deserted planet and then found both of them as the only survivors in the destroyed alien ship. Let them join Astral Express and doing lots of trailblazing together for quite a long time and then from unknown reason VA departed without saying anything. Right?
