My Father was a prospector, I once asked him what he would do if he ever struck it rich, he laughed and said, "buy better gear and go right out again, its not the having gold that's important, its finding gold." He never did strike it rich with the gold, but in enjoyment of his life, he was a millionaire.

Being filthy rich is overrated. Once you can pay your bills fairly easily, everything else is gravy. Sure, winning the 'lottery' would be a lot of fun for a while, but I remember reading a study that suggested people's general level of happiness plateaued at about $75k/yr. Learn to get by with less, appreciate what you have, and enjoy the moment. Rich people still face life problems; it's just a different set of problems. Well back to the subject at hand, I was an amateur prospector for many years in Georgia,USA. It is an amazing illness to catch, (Gold Fever) and you don’t mind the length of the illness at all. My days of being underwater are far behind me now. I started with a simple pan and shovel. As my illness progressed, the severity and symptoms varied. After prospecting on public properties for a while I found that the most desirable and productive gold bearing properties were owned or leased by several clubs in my area. There are clubs such as those throughout America. I’m not sure about most other countries but in america we don’t have as many restrictions as to who or where we are allowed to prospect. The main restrictions nowadays are along the lines of respecting property ownerships and environmental impact. You can prospect on privately owned land as long as you get permission and respect the land. Certain public lands in gold bearing areas allow access as long as you obey special environmental laws. The main issues have to do with the destruction of natural areas and being able to leave your workings as you originally found them along with which methods or equipment being permitted there. Basically, you cannot just go into the national forrest with dynamite and bulldozers. It’s not that complicated to do amateur prospecting. I eventually joined a club which leased proven properties from landowners who owned the mineral rights along with the properties outright. The landowners dictated which legally allowed methods they permitted to be used. The clubs had rules to follow as well. In my case, I started out with little knowledge and equipment but quickly graduated to using an engine driven High-Banker and Underwater Suction Dredge. There were also restrictions on the physical size of that equipment as well. In the case of Suction dredges, in my club as well as by law, the diameter of the suction hose was limited to six inches with a nozzle diameter of five inches. Without getting to deep into the weeds, suffice it to say that the hose sucked up material from the stream or riverbed. The sucked-up material was then dumped across essentially la larger version of the sluice-box as seen in the video. My club had members who were all there for the excitement of the chase along with the fellowship that naturally ensues with a group of like-minded people. Some of the older members had as much as a mayonnaise jar full of gold acquired over the years after many hours of back-breaking labor. This was a case of work that was so enjoyable that you actually look forward to the Sun rising every morning so as to commence another day of self inflicted hard labor.

The main thing you need to know about gold is that you can protect your long term savings by hoarding investment grade physical gold, in the form of bullion coins. Big kilo bars are for the rich, I am talking about small coins ranging from 3 grams (240 EUR) to 1 Troy ounce (2,100 EUR). There's many lucky countries where investment grade bullion coins are available to the population. Some other places have no option but to accumulate gold jewelry. Not everybody has the risk profile or professional knowledge to hedge against inflation by owning stocks or other counterpat based assets.

This lady does realize that gold has always been a contentious material, right? Worrying about people in underdeveloped countries mining gold in unfavorable conditions for the sale of ethical sourcing is pretty much pointless. These people are often stolen from when people come in trying to make their gold mining operations more regulatory, and often stifle people who might mine gold because there are limited options for making money. How about you just pay these people above spot instead of trying to change their whole operation. Think of what the 49ers went through. Many died just trying to get to California. Or the Klondike expeditions. Not to mention all the homeless people in America that mine on a small scale today and generally suffer with little earnings.. Nonetheless, it's how some people survive. Don't step on that.

Was this meant to be a comedy? I mean the 2 dudes at the beginning, for example. I kept waiting for a punchline. It is truly unsettling, watching the our entire population plunging nose first, on a dizzying descent into an abyss of stupidity. I generally have found WELT documentaries to be quite good. So WTF is happening HERE? Maybe some things get lost in translation... but this is just ...Weird. Anyone with a valid "Education" predating the Internet of the WWW should have NO trouble understanding what I'm talking about. How, at least superficially, this could almost pass itself off as valid. That Gold, (along with most materials found on Earth) and any periodic elements above carbon, and definitely above iron, were, and still are-- "Fused" forged via stellar ACTIVITY --is a well known, almost Universally accepted fact, (Pun or not, it is unavoidable...) and that any pure periodic element, can't be destroyed (At least not without extreme & extenuating circumstances) is another. Perhaps these are concealing -and delaying, rather than revealing the "punchline" I'm anticipating as I move past 40% of this 'show'. ? IDK ~I confess, I'm at a loss to express what it is that is bothering me about this, besides the rather shallow-ish, and convoluted narrative. (not to be confused with the Narration- Which is IMO very good) Maybe I'm just getting old, but this is just not right in several ways, even in places where it is "correct" or "accurate". For entertainment purposes, I'd be willing to overlook a few shortcomings. Something else is "off". ~Anyway, I think I'll just move on and forget about it, with the assistance of some REAL Gold. I mean that "Liquid Gold of the Gods" -Beer. At least the Germans seem to have plenty, but just never quite enough of that. This is a good thing. Otherwise they would have certainly taken over the world long ago, and we would have colonized A.& P. Centauri by now. Also good in itself, but I like German beer. If Beer is a problem, beer helps to forget that too.
