Weltron 2001 tape deck repair

Repair on a Weltron 2001 with a faulty tape player - easy fix once you manage to get inside the tape player. Took me a couple of hours to do the whole operation. There are only two types of screw diameters (machine screws) inside so assembly isn´t that bad.

Boy, am I glad I found this. As has been suggested, a step by step would be great. But what's on display here has already been of help.

@@swishpan I'm embarrassed what my issue actually turned out to be. An 8 track tape dust cover was lodged in the cartridge slot. I disassembled the entire unit only to discover this. I've almost got it reassembled but the problem I'm running into is that the power switch and sliders are sticking due to a slight offset in the reassembly. I guess I have to be more meticulous in putting it back together. One over or under tightened screw seems to offset the front display panel and causes the housing seams to gap.

Awesome video! I just fixed my wife's 2001 where the tapes wouldn't push in properly. My guess is that some tapes have a plastic protector that fits over the end and it was this stuck in there. I noticed on your video that yours didn't have it so it gave me a bit more confidence pulling the thing out. Job done. Cheers.

Agree. Getting the plastic shell off is very easy only 4 screw or so. The next stage was a bit more hassle, had to mark where all the screws was belonging.

The holy Grail of 8-track players. Have you ever tried hooking it up to external speakers? If so, how did you do it? A video on that would be greatly appreciated if you've ever done that.

Sorry for the stupid question but where do I screw on the Weltron 2001? I don't see any screws anywhere, just weird holes.

Dang. the Screws were all glued on so good I couldn't open it

Try testing the solenoid, could be solenoid or the power for the solenoid?
