WEN Hair Care Product Review Documentary (over 5-month period) =)

I decided to document my experience for some of my friends that were interested in using this product. This review covers a 5-month period in which I only used WEN products on my hair to see true results. I was all excited on ordering it and talked about it at work and someone that was listening to my convo said "you better be careful, they say it makes your hair fall out!!! just do your research" I was so freaked out by that I started looking up stuff and there were a lot of stories of that.... but yours was honest and realistic and my neighbor uses it and has for a year and she went back to another shampoo in between and she said her literally looked like straw and "s**t" .... so she went back to WEN and she said back to normal.... and so I have short hair as you can see I am excited to have body and softness at the same time... I appreciate your review one because it's 5 months and the pictures show how shiny and soft your hair was and is... BY THE WAY.... I LOVE LOVE LOVE YOUR CUT!!!! very cute.

Loved your review & so glad you're going to remain a Wen Girl. I've been using the product for about 10 years and would never use anything else. Sally's has a knockoff called Hair One but still not give me the same results as Wen. If you ever get a chance try Chaz Dean's new scent "Spring Gardenia". I only use it as the leave in because it is a limited edition so I want to use is sparingly but the scent is out of this world. I also use that scent in the replenishing spray. Good luck.

Okay, I know this may sound really weird but I wash my hair in the basement sink. That way I can I can rinse my hair thoroughly and I don't have to worry about the rest of my body turning into a prune.

Thank you so much! It has grown out quite a bit since then. And you can most definitely add body to your hair! When you step out of the shower just towel dry your hair and spray in a little root lifter before blow drying it upside down and you will see the difference right away. Then you can always use a straightener to style it as you wish. Let me know how your experience with WEN goes! Wish you luck!

Thank you so much! I have been using Loreal Voluminous Mascara for years now. I find that the Mascara has a lot of product in it and it lasts me quite awhile.

Thanks for the real review; like you, I was getting frustrated with only being able to find reviews that were sponsored by the product. All they did was regurgitate the instructions on the website, almost word for word. I have long hair like you did when you started; my only question is that since you only used it 2-3x per week, did your hair look/feel greasy or stringy at any point in between washings?

Good job on doing some research first! I was hesitant at first as well! As for your questions, I do plan on continuing to use WEN. Also, WEN never made my hair look greasy whatsoever, even going 3+ days without washing it. And finally, I would definitely recommend it to other who are looking to increase their shine & health of their hair. I also take lots of vitamins on a daily basis that I think help my hair as well =)

I just bought Wen to try, and I was wondering if I could just use it every other day when I don't wash my hair. I like to use cleansing conditioners on my hair when I don't wash it, and wash my curly hair every other day to minimize oiliness. I just wasn't sure if I would still be able to do that with Wen or if I just use the Wen by itself

Great review!!! I have friends that use this product; however, they have very thick corse hair, so I didn't think it would work for me because I have fine hair with natural curl/wave. I am very careful when choosing products for my hair because I don't want products to weigh my hair down. Plus, I struggled with losing a lot of hair after having my children, so I'm very careful with what products I use. Good job!!

For oily hair I believe the WEN conditioner in Cucumber Aloe is used. My personal routine that I find works well is washing it 3 times a week.I have also gone for a 3-4 days without washing it and it still looks and feels like I just washed it! I work the conditioner into my roots then onto the rest of my hair and let it sit there while I finish up my shower which is about 10 minutes or so. Rinse with warm water while combing it through and viola! Wish you the best if you decide to try it! =)

Hey Clarissa, I'm doing this no heat natural hair and I have very oily hair like I would wake up the next day oily so I've been having to wash my hair every day, what routine should I do with these wen products and which products do u recommend for me?

I have been using Wen for awhile now. Bought the whole kit and was using all the styling products. Last night after washing my hair I was sitting in a brown leather chair. After a couple of hours I noticed all the color was out of the chair in the spot where my hair touched it. If it can take the color out of a leather chair, time for a change.

I'm not sure what you mean but my hair before WEN had a tendency to grow pretty quickly (I take a lot of vitamins) and while using WEN I didn't notice it causing my hair to grow any faster than normal. However, after getting a haircut, and completely getting rid of any split ends or damage that I've had, it seems that my hair has grown slightly faster that it normally did. I really believe it was due to the overdue haircut that I needed & not the WEN product. Hope that answers your question! =)

If your hair is fine already, it will make it silky smooth making your natural hair softer, and feeling deep conditioned. However some of the comments below have mentioned the Lavender Wen product which is supposed to help with body & volume but I have not tired that product. Some inexpensive products I use for body & volume on special occasions are PANTENE's Root Lifter Spray Gel made for thin hair ($4 at Wal-mart) and GARNIER Fructis Volume Extend Instant Bodifier Dry Shampoo ($5 at Wal-mart).

I just got it in Lavender and I have thick hair. So many natural oils like Aragon oil in the treatment with the dropper, lavender oil etc how can anyone go wrong? It is divine!

Yes, wen is really good I been using it just for a month now, but I can see the difference, you look better with your hair short.

Hi Clarissa.....I've used Argon Oil shampoo before and my hair looked and felt greasy. So I gave it away. My hair is quite fine and I highlight it to cover the grey. How does this product work on fine/thin hair? I'm afraid that it will be so soft that it will be limp and lifeless. I do use a straightener nearly every day. Many thanks.

I'm concerned that you say you didn't really get to see the true result of the product until you had the length of your hair cut off, including the color, split ends, and damage. It will be interesting to see if using Wen continues to keep your hair healthy now that you have basically "started from scratch" with your new haircut (which is super cute, by the way), but honestly, the infomercial claims that it will fix all of those problems, so you shouldn't have to have your hair chopped off if you prefer to have really long hair, just to be able to see the results.

Yes it did. It really deep conditions your hair. I think you can tell the difference in the texture by my week 2 photo.

I have very curly, stubborn hair. My husband likes it long, and I know if I cut it I will have the most crazy hair ever. I straighten my hair like once a year, sometimes twice depending on how the first one came out. I started using WEN, and I am having problems with the hair under the top layer being very very curly. I only need to wash my hair once a week, my hair stays clean. How do I keep the curl away? I've got the straightener and also the frizz control....what do I do next????

I just ordered my first Wen on QVC (tuscan pear & six thirteen) Can you suggest one other product to go along with it? I'm on a budget so I can't get everything. Your hair looks gorgeous with this hairstyle. with what I have been reading about this product, it seems that if you just use high quality products, you'll be fine. Since these are cleaning conditioners, you probably have to use a clarifying shampoo once in a while. Great haircut!!

If your hair is so moisturized that it's stretching and breaking, you need a protein conditioner to add strength and that will help stop the breakage.

I've been using WEN, now off and on, but before exclusively. It does give my hair a certain slip that is soft, but it is very expensive to use...especially if you use it as directed. For my length hair, he suggests something like 15 pumps. Ridiculous! It also left my hair so soft that it was challenging keeping a curl or bend in it. So I'm on the fence. I do use it, but not every single day. I alternate between products depending what style I'm going to have that day. I don't know if that's helpful, but that's my experience with WEN.

Hey Clarissa. It says on the wen website that you need to use 8 -16 pumps. You need to use it 2-3 times a week. Wouldn't that make the product run out very quickly? How much of the product did you use?

I have been using this and my hair is about her length. the recommended amount of product to use seemed ridiculous (my mom's hair is past shoulder length and the "short hair" amount was too much for her) I use 2 to 3 full pumps of the product and it's more than enough. using it this way it's lasting a long time. I can see why they set it as a monthly ordering thing because of the recommended amount of product to use would definitely run out in that time. hope this helps. (its absolutely fabulous on dyed hair, better than just using sulfate free shampoo)

There are different formulas for specific hair types. Lavender adds volume and moisture without weighing the hair down. Tea Tree is for scalp issues. I have fine, thin hair (health related) & I've been using Sweet Almond Mint, mixed with Tea Tree for over a year. I'll never use anything else again. You do have to use it exactly as directed though. Almost every bad review I've seen is because they cut corners somewhere. It's a bit pricy, but soooo worth it! (I also take Biotin & that helps too)

Love love love your hair! It’s a really great cut! I tried wen a while ago and loved how silky it made me hair but also noticed the drastic amount of hair loss in the shower. When I called the support line they told me that was normal so I stopped my subscription. Wish I could find another similar product without the hair loss side effect 🥺

i actually was thinking about using wen and i saw your video and i picked up the as i am co wash to try first and i love it. i've only used it 4 times and already see a difference. When i use shampoo my hair underneath has a wavy-ness to it and would look frizzy and dry when i air dry it. i never use a blow dryer. When i used the co-wash it seems to relax the waves and it doesnt look dry anymore. I can actually not even do anything else to it and it looks great. Thanks for the great review it was very useful to me, and your hair looks great long or short. It's always fun to change it up a little.

i was goin to buy this since it's a more natural way to wash your hair... i don't like washing my hair everyday anyways since I'm a guy and my hair is very silky and thin... I usually wash it every other day even though i take daily showers... i been lookin around for somethin to strengthen it but idk where to look... i want to give this a try but my hair doesn't need moister since it's always smooth and naturally curly which I dislike. Betty Ujhelyi... it's called allergies to ingredients. not everyone is the same. I have been using it for 6 years and don't loose much hair at all. in fact, it stopped the hair loss that shampoo and conditioner had caused and saved my hair.

I didn't have the same experience with Wen. My hair is super long and it made it very oily and looked greasy all the time. I only used it a week and gave up on it. It's certainly not for me. Plus the smell is disgusting to me.

I wash/condition my hair every day and wear it natural (no chemical based products). I use Tresemme products (shampoo and conditioning) and a oil sheen called 7 oils and it has worked great for over the last 6 years. Although I like your hair Clarissa (I am a huge short hair fan), it does concern me that the product possibly caused hair loss.

Helene Harris My hair fell out in clumps after using Wen for one month! Do not use this product! My hair has never grown back in. I had thick beautiful hair before I started using Wen, now it is so thin I can see my scalp at the top of my head. Totally disgusted with this company and their product!!

I used wen on my long hair for 5 months, too, but I used the 6/13 exclusively, and my hair condition became excellent. After 4 months, my hair began falling out! I was shocked and mortified, but the Wen was the last thing I thought to blame for it. I went on KZbin to find the phone no. for Wen and found all these complaints about Wen causing hair loss. I lost so much hair I had to cut mine short, the lengths of it looked odd being so thin. I just learned about the other complaints of hair loss. Now I am going to use another sulfate free shampoo and see if it grows back. Life can really suck when your hair falls out.
