I wish literature were explicated this way more often. Beautifully and wonderfully said. Every morning before dawn I drive by sleeping cattle in a Kentucky field near Mr. Berry. Now I will think of this as I do so.

The connection one can feel to rivers is fascinating, especially when you think of how our ancestors viewed them as gods and goddesses. I never appreciated Shabbat until later in life…the Creator knows the image of Himself in creation best! He rested Himself on the 7th day, and so should we. Great poem.
