BFS originated in Japan and was born out the need for stream trout and bass bank fisherman to accurately cast lighter lures short to medium distances for highly pressured fish. Advantages over spinning I’ve found are higher accuracy casting, stealthy low trajectory entries, better line management and sensitivity, with a little extra power to give you a fighting chance around cover. The ability to fish light lures on 8-10lb flurocarbon line a nice bonus (try that on a spinning outfit). It has a very niche purpose and was not intended for distance casting or as a replacement for spinning gear which are common critiques. I’ve found a place for it fishing very light dropshot and flickshake rigs around docks and any vegetation edge in my club tournaments in Florida. I’m puzzled by people who try to formulate arguments against bfs before even understanding it, much less trying it for themselves first.

I like bfs because I like the baitcaster setup and I like fishing light tackle. That said I do fly fish and use spinning tackle for ultralight too

Great video, funny thing is I carry 5 baitcasters and 2 spinners on my jon boat with me. I feel the jon boat is a better choice for me than a kayak.

@wendellfishing11 күн бұрын
The Megabass Karashi is a finesse topwater lure so something like this: Type: Light or Medium-Light Spinning Rod Length: 6'6" to 7' Action: Fast or Extra Fast Power: Light to Medium-Light

BFS is just more cost...if you finesse fish spinning is the way.

That's a myth, spinning gear can be far more expensive than bfs casting gear. I'm primarily a finesse fisherman and don't own a single spinning outfit.
@ryanfuller971012 күн бұрын
@-MAX813- could be I'm not a baitcaster guy....just have better hits and action with spinning....but just my opinion....I get it as I power/speed/cover fish with my spinning set up just like you finesse with your Bait caster.
@ryanfuller971012 күн бұрын
@@-MAX813- I can your point, and it works both ways...I guess I prefer spinning set ups over Baitcasting....as I just like the feel better I guess.
