@yellowkangdexasthur490410 ай бұрын
It absolutely knows what the sounds it mimicks mean. That's how it's able to use that ability as bait
@coltonwhite251810 ай бұрын
It may not have known exactly what each phrase meant but it understood the general idea of how to use them as bait. It started off using different screams and sentences pleading for help, but they came out all distorted. When that didn't work, it used the lines that your average police officer would use, right down to the beeps and chirps of his radio. Probably betting on the average human's appeal to authority over his/her altruism considering it's used to being worshipped by primitive humans. We may very well have caught it right in the middle of it's "learning" phase, trying out different mimicked voices at random decibels and gauging it's target's reactions to them, all the while learning how to use them more effectively in the future. Either way, the concept alone is pure nightmare fuel and peak analog horror material.

1:17:24 Worse than a clone, a version of a person from your memories is not going to be a perfect copy, it's going to be a caricature with only the most noteworthy qualities and behaviors exaggerated. At best, this would be a very, very idealized "good" version of the person. Now imagine the inverse. It's such an interesting idea that also makes a bit of sense when you think about it.
@bsodcat Жыл бұрын
True, reminds me of the movie Solaris a lot.
@Pragabond Жыл бұрын
I mean I think that depends entirely on your memories of them. There's nothing saying all your behaviors would be exaggerated if they remembered you correctly and well enough. Like I don't imagine all my lost loved ones as cartoon versions of themselves but yeah it would 100% not be the actual person. It would just be what you thought they were and what they showed to you without any of the inner thoughts or unknowns. Chances are they'd still operate a lot like they used to but you'd likely notice they seemed....simplified and lacking depth and a certain spark.

which is probably why whatever that thing in the mountain is, it had significantly less power when no one was disturbing the mountain. after the miners saw something they started to believe that something was wrong which was most likely enough for the thing to have power over them and in general again

^ or for specific issues, just to remove them from the collective mind. remove all references to them going forward and change what you can retroactively, and while some people may have knowledge, theyll be generally forgotten

The problem with this theory is that if people need to know about thoughtforms for thoughtforms to be formed...then how did the first thoughtform come into being? The first thoughtform would have been born with zero people knowing thoughtforms exist so clearly they can form even if no one knows. I think that plan would just make everything worse because belief is clearly a force regardless of whether people know it or not for any of this to work at all so all that would happen is....we'd still have thoughtforms but the entire human race would have no knowledge of them or know how to prevent or defend against them. I don't think we should just tell the whole world but outright deleting any intel we have on them in every single person would just leave us completely and utterly vulnerable to them.

Rob Gavagan's take on analog horror really is a breath of fresh air in the genre. Particularly as someone who grew up in New England and knows more than a few of these landmarks - including Mt. Greylock. Upon consideration, although I find Tulpa's to be a bit played out, I do like how the idea is implemented here. At least it's a well-thought-out take on it, and the setting is too interesting to me. I can't not like it.

So I know creators add really loud noises because it makes for a good jumpscare but man, those can actually damage people's hearing. Especially in headphones. Like just before 1:40:01 - it doesn't need to be THAT loud to be effective. I honestly wished more creators evened out their volumes more, even in non-horror stuff. If you're already editing your audio it's not super difficult to run it through a compressor or something.

Is it weird that I honestly want a thought form that's...actually friendly? Like, it looks like Sasquatch or a similar big scary creature, but it turns out to be nice and not want to eat people's spleens? Even if it gets shot at the end of the video, it'd be interesting to see, and prove that there's a spectrum to these guys that isn't just varying degrees of nightmare cannable monster.

Me too, honestly. I was kind of hoping that they would only be dangerous because people *thought* them to be dangerous, they were made after people‘s minds after all and they look pretty uncanny. But the little girl at the end disproves that, she just seemed genuinely curious and still got killed.

@@madison_russell04 Agreed, just making them evil seems so simplistic. @ArchieRatsworth Жыл бұрын
@@madison_russell04the mountain is shown to be a place of power that compelled people to gather and sate something very Unkind. It mutilated the people who dug it out, but others kept pushing in, trying to use the area as a place of power. I think that some people trying to bring new tuplas accidentally pulled the Old Ones out instead . It wasn't her imaginary friend, but it was happy to lie and coach her closer. It was seeking out a child that was used to explore a dream space, a child who either had a strong dreaming mind or who had trespassed. Any decent or friendly tulpas would still be trapped in containers inside the facility. The Unkind broke out and started hunting people.

Man one thing that bugs me is how they handled the Peter situation. Going back to what Kane said that Asynce is not some evil corporation but more akin to a toddler exploring something they can’t understand. In my head I think the best possible way to handle it would be to have the ceo call the widow and ask her to come immediately to the building, take her and lead her to a room where Peter is. Give them a few minutes to reunite then make Peter and wife sign a NDA and tell the wife a extremely brief explanation like “I’m sorry but the car wreck was a cover up. During our research we discovered a pocket dimension and while exploring it Peter experienced a time break, throwing him 2 months into the future.” After tell everyone else that Peter had a mental breakdown due to stress and went to Mexico for 2 months to find himself. Since he went missing just before the car wreck and with him being last seen in the area, everyone just assumed that was him. After that just chalk everything wrong with the mortician incorrectly identifying the body.
