In today's video we start with having John Deere out for the second day of diagnostics on the S690 to see if they are able to find out what is causing our transmission to have issues. Later after we finally got it fixed we ended up picking most of the 69 acre middle field. We should be able to wrap that field up tomorrow morning before the rain hits.

Werner Ag, established in 1960, is a family farm operation based in rural Hanna, IN. The KZbin channel and social media pages are run by Keith Werner, the third generation of Werner Ag.
Werner Ag raises Corn, Soybeans, Winter Wheat and Cereal Rye Cover Crop Seed. The farm has done No-Till farming practices since the early 1980s and continues to increase acres of cover crops year to year. The farm operation also provides custom farming services such as Tillage, Planting, Sidedressing and Harvesting.
Outside of the farm operation, Werner Ag includes a Pioneer Seed dealership that was acquired over 30 years ago and also a Logan Agri-Yield Micronutrient Sales division that was acquired in 2020 providing micronutrient products for every application.

Have you considered adding LED lights to the combine? Be a huge upgrade. Also like every farmer tons to do but get new wiper blade on the combine. Never know when you’ll need it 👍

Yes I may look into upgrading the lights next year

I was actually going to mention the oil level in the main engine gear case. Make sure you fold in that unloading auger in when not dumping! That LH final drive has extra stress from the weight of the auger.

If it’s pro drive the gear case and the transmission share the same oil. That oil also operates the unload auger and I think the reel/deck plates and steering. The total system is j 12 or 13 gallons. The main hydraulic tank is for the?m hydrostatic drive and the header lift. It’s about 8 gallons. All use hyguard. I’d be looking for a leak in one of the systems associated with the gear case.

Only this year we have something in the harness that is wrong going tot he transmission. If you put it in 2nd gear or road gear it will lock up the hydrostat after a while of running and all it has is 1st. So now if we want to be in a specific gear besides first we have plug the harness into the hydrostat, change the gear, and unplug the harness so that way it won’t lock up on us or growl at us

That is crazy. Sometimes technology can be a big burden.

That was suspenseful. A lot of people learned something new on that special problem. Thankfully it was a simple true fix, not major like a blown engine out of nowhere or some electrical gremlin that comes and goes and you can never find.

Yeah we were thankful it was something very simple.

IT WAS NOT IN THE BOOK?
@WernerAg
@WernerAg 4 жыл бұрын
Yes it was in the book but we didn't realize the gearcase wasn't tied to the main reservoir. We didn't know that it was a separate system.

There seems to always be something that needs fixed when you farm . It’s always hard to plan your day because you never know what is going to happen .

Shawn Fox we still figure most things out on our own... I have same combine as in video... aside from all the monitors it’s very basic mechanically... we can usually fix most things ourselves without a service call... the good news is the longer you have a combine the more you learn about it... the bad part is by the time you figure everything out it’s usually time for me to trade and the cycle starts all over... they are all different and have a personality all their own even models of same year and make and model... some are good some are nothing but trouble the key is to find a good one and stick with it as long as you can make it reliable without breaking the bank
