That flat, holey tabletop is niiiiice. I've never had that luxury. For me, it's concrete, kneepads, clamps, and careful measuring, , tack it, beat on it, and re-measuring.

I think the best complement is that I built it! I did add one more component to it though - a removable wooden top for woodworking assembly. You also made me feel better in my welding skills not being very attractive after viewing your welds.

I made the same top. 👍‍‍ Whenever you see a lighter colored benchtop, that's the welding table underneath.

OK, honestly been waiting for something like this. Everyone else is all about buying $50-75 castors, for their workshop table? There are a couple of smaller channels where they either made their own, or have a nifty spring loaded one made from wood. However this is a great example of working from first principles, IIRC as they say in the UK. You trade off a little internal space for the benefit of not having casters/feet sticking out from the table trip hazards. And, it look relatively newbie friendly to build. Subbing to your channel just because you don't monologue, don't have stupid music, and primarily because I expect the rest of your video's to be just as unique yet attainable by this amateur.

That's just genius. Didn't know where you were going with this at first but as I saw the hinges and then the bearings it all came clear. Nice design.

Really clever. I’m a wood guy not a metal guy, but it was brilliant to see that come together. Same design but with a wooden bench top would be great in a woodwork shop :)

This is by far the best mobile base that I have seen made ! VERY good work !! I am going to alter the design just slightly so that it will fit in between my contractor saw base legs but keep to your winning design elements meaning bearings and the cuts/welds. and Thank You !

I can't believe you only have 17 thousand followers you do a lot of interesting and varied things. I worked for a gymequipment manufacturer in London in the early '90s and we made some mobile folding basket ball hoops for a college, they had screwjacks to fold and raise the hoop and almost exactly the system you have used for the castors, to lock them down we had a latch like and old fashioned gate latch. It pivoted into a slot in the leg with a spring behind it, on the outside of the leg was a bolt that slid down and pivoted the latch into the leg until the pedal was above the latch. not sure if that description makes sense but I'm sure you have an idea of what to do anyway. Nice table, I want one.

Awesome build. You just created the MFT variant for welders. The retractable casters really are the trick. Toss on a sheet of plywood on top and you also have a workbench for woodworking or other non- welding items. I don't even weld, but I gotta have one!

Great idea mate, thanks for sharing it. The internal castor design was exactly what I was searching for. The castors are cheaper not having a brake on them bonus. Im looking to create that system over 2.4 metres with 6 castors.

Wesley, I love this build! I have something of a...fascination? Addiction? Obsession? With retracting or locking wheel systems for tables and carts. I think this is one of the least complicated and most stable ones I have seen to date. I may be borrowing this in the near future, I will hopefully be moving my shop next year and that will lead to several shop improvement videos. :P
