I used to go through the trouble of drilling holes to bolt on casters like that. At some point I realized A. I'm probably not going to change them ever in my lifetime and B. If I ever had to, taking a grinder to it is hardly a big deal. So now I just weld them.

Yeah, I'd weld them too except most casters are cadmium coated which is much worse than zinc for your health. Also with a milling machine and DRO like Donn has, all you need to do is center punch one, then drill the other 3 based on the standardized distances.

It seems the noise comes from the gearbox in the geared saw head. If I were to put the saw on rubber pads this might reduce the noise allthough it is already on rubbery wheels, so I don'y really know. It is much less noisy than Evolution saw though.😀

Although my comments are seldom short Donn, I will say that most are watching and forgetting that this was designed for the diy person. Factories have robots and other slaves that do the dirty work and show up seven days a week, any shift including overtime... I think they factored in how long any machine can go unmonitored. Your skills just keep on coming and truly feel like the love of metal and the love of wood are equal in terms of pulling at your heart strings when invention is the mother and need is the father. I would sure have loved to be your neighbor. If I had heard grinding noises at midnight, I would of grabbed my stocking cap and slippers and joined you... with some tidbits from the fridge to make a roast beef or chicken salad sandwich so that you wouldn't make me go home. Takes some strong methods of bribery when your need to watch is involved. I am of certain that when I meet st. Peter as I am seventy three, I will ask him to give you eternal health and life for inventions are about you and you have only begun. I have watched every youtube video of yours and wish I could rewatch to give second like. Tremendous things shall come in time from your mind

I think you're right; that saw SHOULD have been on casters already. However, that saw looks like it should be in a commercial or industrial shop, where equipment isn't moved around as much (generally). And I'm curious as to whether the base is backwards in relation to the saw. Because putting the access plate on the back of what was meant to be a stationary base is just dumb. On a mobile base (as you have made it), the location for accessing the coolant tank isn't so important, but it would be a *PAIN* in a shop where it was set against a wall. It's a great modification to that base, and a great video.
@DonnDIY4 жыл бұрын
The motor of the saw hangs over the back of thr base quite a bit do when against the wall there's still room to get to the access panel. But now when the saw is mobile there's even more room. 😁
