fascinating to see the crowd were intrigued but not vocal or otherwise physically demonstrative as they soon became at Eagles matches. Presumably this was because the Eagles were an oddity and people's loyalties still lay with their WAFL teams - thats how I remember it at least.

I was at this game when 17. The Eagles (basically the WA STATE TEAM) should've been far more successful in their first decade.

My Brother was telling me once that him and his friend went and watched this game, they didn't have tickets, apparently they opened the gates and they just went in. I was only 2 at the time, brother was 15. What a shame he ended up being a bloody dockers supporter. :-P
