Don't know how I missed this video until today!! Absolutely amazing. 1994 was the last 'great' year for WEM, with the majority of the original attractions still in place and in operation, in their original form. The mall is a shell of this today.

@@ExitThrutheGiftShop So cool! I would have been about 6 months old at the time this was filmed. I really loved being able to see bits of the submarine ride; I was so sad when they took those out, and it's really hard to find photos or footage of the actual ride anywhere.

It was awesome back in the day and the World's Largest Indoor Shopping Center until 2004*. Several of the attractions and some of the theming has disappeared over the years, but the water park, amusement park and ice rink still remain.

I remember there being a second rc boat section by the sub dock, but it was a tugboat theme rather than the galleons seen on the lagoon. I’m glad this is the only video where I’ve managed to see what it looks like before it was removed.

Visited in '86. Drove across the Rockies from Vancouver ( the Expo was on). The Mall was amazing. Unfortunately, the subs were out of action when I visited, but the water park was great, the food courts were a real novelty for the time and the general vibe from the place was really cool. Don't think the dolphins were there at that time. There was a mechanical Great White in the main pool opposite the galleon that presumably scared the living daylights out of small kids riding the subs. They don't make 'em like they used to!

Well, there is no place like it, from the neon lights to the happy yet creepy to some Jester's they united to be a perfect blend of decor! Wem was not only a mall, but a museum! It's a shame how they removed everything that made this place magical😢

@@xt-distinct7817 the dolphins lived there for 15 years before two calfs and one of them died. How would you expect to keep moving large marine mammals to the tank.. un manageable and cruel

Yeah I was thinking the exact same thing. I thought the idea of this mall was awesome until I saw the dolphins. Ruined the whole thing. Some people just can’t be satisfied. All that and they just had to add dolphins. That tank was way too small for one never mind three. Made me really sad.
