When we were up there they had not had any snow . The 1st night there we got 4ft. It was great sitting in a hot tub outside our cabin while it was snowing. All though it was very cold when Cathy and I got out her hair was frozen. Our husbands thought we were crazy. Both my husband and Cathy have passed. Those were good memories. Thank you for the trip to West Glacier. I heard the water fall it was wonderful.

Having grown up in the NW Montana area...Its hard to convinve me that there is something more beautiful anywhere. The mountain creeks ...you can drink straight from them and fishing everywhere. Not even gonna bring up how great the hunting is there :) It was nice to ride along and see stuff I hadnt seen in maybe close to 30 yrs.

The railroad bridge over the highway is Java on the railroad. Shortly thereafter you passed Sheep's Creek trestle on your left. A natural mineral salt deposit is under the RR bridge, mountain sheep and other wildlife gather for a treat. Many senic railroad postcard opportunities abound in the Marias Pass (content not given), please bunk in the Izaak Walton Inn at night.

Hi Russ. Great video as always! I noticed that you were driving along the Flathead River. As you start to head south, consider going by Flathead Lake (which the river flows into). Flathead Lake is the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi. The scenery is beautiful! After taking my family through Glacier National Park about 12 years ago, we drove south along the western side of Flathead Lake. We loved it!

Hello Russ! I just discovered this video & really enjoyed your efforts. In 2009 I visited Glacier NP & loved it. I stayed in East Glacier at a motel with a couple of restaurants & a bakery across the street (Yea - Huckleberry pie!). I especially liked the Two Medicine Lakes area which had great hiking and vistas. I believe that lake you showed near East Glacier was Lower Medicine Lake. I appreciate your photography and commentary. Consider me a fan. Bob Ross from Easton Pa.

Those tracks you are seeing is the BNSF Northern Transcon and the Hi-Line Subdivision. It runs from Havre Montana from the Milk River Subdivision from the east, to Whitefish Montana where it converges onto the Kootenai River Subdivision. Amtrak's Empire Builder runs these subs, and runs between Chicago to Spokane where the train will split. Cars will go to Seattle on the northern leg of the route, and to Portland on the southern end of the route.

My first trip to Marias Pass was in February 1998 on Amtrak from Lancaster, Pa staying at the Izaak Walton Inn. Subsequent winter visits are flying into Spokane and following the Funnel into Montana. Many photogenic shots abound around each corner from Browning to Whitefish or from Spokane to Browning.

Soooo glad I did my big US 'vacation' last year - First time I'd ever been to Glacier NP and it was epic. The Going to the Sun Road frightened my wife so much she wouldn't do it more than once as we moved from East Glacier to West Glacier but I loved every Km of it. Visited Az too last year - no where near as hot as this year I gather which is just as well as us Brits rarely see 30C and generally never more than 34C!

Nice trip. Never made it to MT but plan to one day. A couple of years ago I drove to Southern Utah and explored some of the National Parks there and spent a few days in Colorado. A very enjoyable trip. Once this pandemic is under control I want to take a trip through MT and the Pacific NW. Plan to devote a month for the journey as I'm from MS. Keep the videos coming as this is a great way to get some ideas of places to visit.

Hey Russ, been enjoying your tour. You are very close to The National Bison Range and you might enjoy it. I went thru last year around Labor Day and saw lots of animals including Bear, Elk, Deer, Antelope and lots of Buffalo. Might be worth seeing, you can contact them to see if you want to drive thru it in the van. I'd suggest an late afternoon/evening as that's when the animals come out.
