I continue my wild camping along the West Highland Way.
The final night of my trip sees me camping by the Victoria Bridge, a short distance past Inveroran.
The original plan was to camp by the river around the back of the Inveroran Hotel but all the best pitches were taken so I carried on for an extra mile to find a quieter spot.
Since I already made a 7 day vlog of the West Highland Way back in 2016, this set of videos only focuses on the wild camping aspect. If the West Highland Way interests you, you can watch my West Highland Way vlog/diary series from 2016 here:
• The West Highland Way ...
The tent I am using during the trip is the Vango Zenith 300, 2 person tent. It is spacious and very simple to put up and can be purchased on Amazon (see link below).
Vango Zenith 3 man tent: amzn.to/2FDyod3
Lixada folding stove: amzn.to/2rJNrN3
Light my Fire Titanium Spork: amzn.to/2IGyfLi

“Yer such a big wean Mr Hill” on that swing. oh and you were right about that coffee. Azera. Got some today. £3:00 for 6 satchets. Very expensive but it is good coffee like you say. Thanks for the tip.

Bluesky its much better than the cheapo 3in1 but I cant afford Azera at £3 so bought Nescafe Gold Blend Cappucino from Asda this time.

What a great overnight stop (apart from some dead looking branches overhead?). What more could you ask for.....yeh, I know, a lovely lady.....and a can of Spam! Another great video. Thanks for taking us along.

Oh a can of Spam would have been great there. I've given up with the lady, Iooks like it wasn't meant to be in this life. At least I can rely on a can of Spam.

Hi Mr Hills, When I did the west highland way last your I noticed that pitch you stayed on and thought yes that would be a nice quiet pitch but then we noticed a private sign was it still there. Good video with great entertainment well done. Thanks Steve.

Hi Steve I never saw any private sign, just a pallet slightly blocking access, but it opened like a gate so I presumed it was ok to go in there. Where did you see the sign?

I'm sure it was next to the gate you when in. Any way it was a good pitch. there was another good spot just further a long a faster running narrower river had a nice pitch near a small stone bridge again. Turn around and try that one. lol.

Hi Steve are you sure you are not talking about the stone bridge behind the Inveroran Hotel that I passed?

Put the tent up at the campsite at Inveroran last year but too many midges for my wife to handle so left the tent there and stayed at the hotel. Nice place.

Aye midgy hell in the summer, best to camp there early May or late September.

Well done again MrH :) What is it with bus/train fares these days? Cost a bloody fortune!!! Cant believe you burnt the balaclava, Tut tut tut!
@hfthscot
@hfthscot 6 жыл бұрын
Train fares are not so bad if you book weeks in advance, but bus prices from the Highlands to Glasgow prices are what really get on my nerves... £40 single journey no discount !!! Can't wait until I'm 60 lol. Well maybe not actually. My balaclava will be just fine once I put on the Gorilla tape.

Great video again.. lovely spot to pitch as well as the peace and tranquility. I remember Bridge of Orchy when travelling up there..noticed the area had loads of spots to pitch up. You must have a strong stomach for maltesers-maxwell house creation..😂. So which tent you gonna use on future trips..banshee or zenith?. I have thoroughly enjoyed the last few vids of your latest trips. Looking forward to watching more of them soon. ATB Mark.

Hi Mark, I'll be using the banshee for long distance hikes, and Zenith for weekend trips and campsites.

Well, this video was done about 3 weeks ago and there was no midges then but could easily be some midges lurking there now, I'd take some Smidge with you just incase, although the midges are usually at their worst in June-September. Aye, overnight temperature is fine now long as you have a decent sleeping bag you won't feel cold.

No Tom, but I like the thought of catching my own supper and throwing it onto the fire to cook, so I'll maybe try fishing some day. I wouldn't do it when I'm hiking though, too much to carry.

I was planning on doing the west highland way this summer. Would you be able to go to most campsites along the way without booking? Can you wild camp anywhere in scotland other than Loch Lomond?
@tormon506
@tormon506 5 жыл бұрын
Loch Lomond is one of the few places that regulates camping. In most places here you can wild camp anywhere, and also use the occasional bothy if you see one.

Whats with asking for donations?
@hfthscot
@hfthscot 6 жыл бұрын
I put a lot of time and effort into filming and editing the videos so I don't see any harm in asking for a small contribution. It's just an option for people who like to help out. I'll continue to make videos with or without a donation.

Enjoyed your videos for years but perhaps stop asking for freebies in videos it's abit off-putting,cooking pots in last and balaclava this time,maybe just leave it to the link,im sure it will be enough,apart from that cracking vid.

MrJakejake1982 it's just my humour. I'm quite capable of replacing my mess tins and balaclava all by myself lol. Cheap as chips. Now if I was actually begging I'd be asking for much bigger things which I'm not doing.
