Awesome! Love Pennsylvania, but West Virginia takes it to another level. The stars there are amazing at night, probably the darkest skies in the Eastern United States.

Cherry Springs, PA. and Spruce Knob, WV. are on the top ten list for best places to stargazing in the US. they are the two best places in the eastern US. to stargaze with Cherry Springs being considered one of the best in the country.

Alright. My old stomping grounds. Got caught in a blizzard up there once in the 1970's. We made it to the Spruce Knob Lake Store where the old lady there had tubs of hot water and towels for all of us who got caught in the early freak Thanksgiving storm. She told us a story from when she was a little girl and the same kind of storm hit and a hunter crawled to a local barn for shelter where upon his feet burst. Never forgot that story or the woman telling it.

I had a good time up there! Camper-shell, though. Pull in, blow up my bed, open the grill and heat some smoked pork chops and had sugar-free cole-slaw for supper. Cleaned everything of grease, and stowed it. Got my evening tea and watched the sun go down! Fun and Peaceful Stuff!

I make those mashed potatoes all the time and just to help the viewers out I want to clarify, the entire package of mashed potaoes takes a 16.9 oz bottle of boiling or very hot water. Add the last ounce or so slowly after stirring well to get your desired thickness. They are a great camping food and come in various flavors and plain buttery style. They all take the same amount of water and you don't need to add milk or butter to them, so they are perfect for camping or van life. Another tip for van living, you can get all the boiling water you need from the nozzle on the coffee machines in the convenience stores. I fill my thermos for simple cooking and coffee or tea. I've never been charged but I was once chased down because they thought I filled my thermos with free coffee. Be sure they know you have only water. 😅 Ask if they charge for hot water. If you can't find the nozzle ask if they have hot water for tea and they will show you where it is. I usually buy a tea or something else I need or want as a common courtesy and then fill my thermos too for later. The water is boiling hot and stays hot for hours in my Stanley thermos. Hope this info helps others.

I quit eating those mashed potatoes while hiking the AT. My mistake was eating three packets in 1 day. Fawking gross. Never again 😂 Throw in some bacon bits and cheese. It makes it somewhat bearable. BTW your poo will have the same consistency as the mashed potatoes.

Rainfly not staked to pull it away from the body and the poles not used to make the awning. Get caught in a decent rain for long enough and you'll learn why it is important to do that.

Cliff, I think the Deer Park water you used for the potatoes is 16.9 fl oz. not 8oz. If so, that explains the slight thinning of the gruel.
