Florida had sunken living rooms in some houses. I've see 2 houses with sunken living rooms and part of the house in terrazzo and rest of house in hard wood floors. The house across the street built in 1978 has a sunken living room.

Awesome video bro, it brought back memories of when I started doing concrete work after college primarily for residential. I later started an infrastructure rehab company specializing in polyurea/polyaspartic industrial coatings.

I poured hundreds of house foundations in Florida back in the 80s. Only a hand full of them had sunken living rooms. They were thought to be very high end back then. I have filled in a couple as well. Like you said. It takes forever to set up. In FL the humidity is high so takes a long time for all that bleed water to evaporate.

Nice job, My wife’s cousin has a house like that. We call it a “Brady Bunch” style house. It has a sunken floor in two rooms. When they have party’s they tell people to be careful there’s a step down or up. Crazy design.

Your jobsites are well organized and neat and your equipment appears clean and cared for all great signs. I noticed you are using concrete with a lot of water (loose). Dryer (less water) mixes equal more strength for concrete pours besides why pay for water concrete is sold by the yard so the less water the more value you and your clients are getting while reducing the time to start and complete finishing. Great careful execution of a small job your customers are well served by choosing your firm. I did not see any epoxy used on dowel pins they seemed interference fit (driven) I always use larger holes with epoxy to eliminate any risk of future spalling from oxidation of dowels and my building code usually require a cementitious bonding agent for dowel pins. Not sure about the cling film used as a vapour barrier.
@zrunner800Ай бұрын
If I needed a vapor barrier there I wouldn’t approve of that plastic but I don’t really think it’s necessary. As a bond breaker? Sure. No issue there and I think that’s the value this adds. Personally I wouldn’t install one unless the original concrete floor had detectable moisture issues.

Good video, I worked in fly ash in Australia and there the ash has a greater than 100% cement equivalence and the concrete keeps getting stronger forever. It’s all dependent on the mineralogy of the coal and the processing of the ash. US fly ash is pretty crappy. There are also some companies developing volcanic ash products for bulk concrete..
