I'm going to take a wild guess that the stock ring gap might have been a deciding factor in why it blew up. When you add boost you really need to gap those piston rings more.

@@TheXbookiex When you spray nitrous or add boost to an engine the piston ring gap has to be enlarged. If the gap isn’t big enough and the heat and cylinder pressure gets high enough the ends of the ring will push against each other and then physically break the ring-land of the piston. When you gap the rings larger you sacrifice a bit of the seal in the cylinder but it is necessary to prevent damage.

No. Atmospheric pressure in KS is about 29.7inHg, which is roughly 100kpa, so positive manifold pressure was only about 57kpa, or 8psi. 8psi on a stock 5.3 should run somewhere from 450-500hp, which it *shouldn't* have blown up, but given the ding dong who tuned it and the blatant disregard for any safety measures of the ding dong who blew it up... I'm honestly not terribly surprised.
