@@juliawood2212 Most likely the Google IT Specialist certification offered from coursera. They had me take the course too despite just shy of 2 years of IT experience and 58 SH credits in electrical engineering subjects. They're very strict when it comes to enrollment requirements, but any IT cert will get you in. I didn't like the structure of the coursera cert. Felt like some parts were drawn out and others were rushed. Comptia ITF cert may be a good alternative.

OOPS! IT security analyst, entry level. Maybe a help desk job to get your foot in the door. Other than that getting a job is actually more dependent on what you do outside of the coursework. Would you say this Bachelor degree is beginner friendly? I saw that one of the alternatives requirements to enroll in is to have a bachelor degree (which I have) but I have absolutely 0 experience in the subject or IT field. Do you start learning from zero or does it require you to have knowledge on a specific area so you don't get lost on the classes?
@Anthonydp2 жыл бұрын
I’m in the same situation, any update?
@whatchyagonnado2 жыл бұрын
I also have no experience, in addition to not having a bachelor's degree and I am currently going through the program. The most difficult part for me was the CompTIA A+ certification course (which I took at WGU Academy) because of the breadth and depth of the information. Everything else has been pretty straight forward so far. For CompTIA A+ I used the professor messer videos in conjunction with the Mike Meyers book and videos they provided. If you don't know anything, reading the book (even though its super long) gives a great general understanding for everything.

@@randomapperatus3773 Hey there. I'm ur 19th subscriber. 👍yay! I was interested in the cybersecurity b.s. cause I currently work in healthcare with covid patients and feel like a piece of 💩 single mom cause I have not seen my kid for over 2 months now cause I'm perpetually quarantined in a hotel room.😢 Anyway, my question is, I have zero 🚫 computer experience and find technology confusing and frustrating ,quite frankly (hence why I wanted to go to school to learn more about it). I'm not sure if my wgu rep is on commission, but they are really trying to sell me the program telling me that I can do it, and whatnot. I wanna enroll, but I dont wanna be left high and dry (and out of 3500$, cause I dont qualify for aid) when i get stuck somewhere in the program. What do u think? Do it, or don't do it? Thanks so much. 🐊
@randomapperatus37734 жыл бұрын
mama cocolilo what I can tell you is I started this program with no tech background and 10 years in the medical field as an MA. However without the genuine interest in IT security I would never recommend it. Also this will not fix your immediate issue and the program demands your time outside of work. When you take exams you must be left alone or go to a specific testing center for certifications. If you have any interest at all in hacking, preventing hacking, risk management for technology or HIPPA compliance in technology then I say go for it. This is an inexpensive program by far. If this didn’t help let me know.
@mamacocolilo1054 жыл бұрын
@@randomapperatus3773 it absolutely helped! I'm not afraid to work for what I want, and yes, I am aware that it wont fix my immediate problem, but i hope i can be done with this b.s. prior to the 2yr mark (when they say all this will be over). I have a lot of down time since I only work 4 days a week and are in a hotel room all day. I am afraid to be left high and dry with something I cannot finish because I could not find support if I didn't catch on the first time the information that was presented to me (or in the fashion that it was delivered). I dont expect to be spoon fed, but i am gonna need them to dumb down the information- ALOT, at least at first. So I can take it all in. And I absolutely have an interest in all this! I may be mistaken, but it seems like its gonna be a game of wits when it comes to protecting info and data. I'm up for the challenge! If I may ask, how many hours a week are u devoting to ur studies? Is it hard to get help? Thanks for ur honest reply and ur time. 🐊
@randomapperatus37734 жыл бұрын
mama cocolilo well it started with about 15 hours per week and Since my last term is here I’m down to 4 hours weekly. I’m being lazy lately but there is so much repeating info that if you do it in the right order, the amount of time you spend goes down gradually

I have a question on this degree that I cant seem to get the answer to, I have an IT background with 3 certs under my belt and I am not getting a clear answer if I will get classes taken out. My counselor says I would need to test out which is absurd and a waste of time. Also, there are 15 certs included in this course. Is a course considered a certification or do you have to complete the course and then go take the certification at a testing center?
