I lived in Nanjing for almost 2 years. It was one of my most interesting forays traveling. I agree with commentator and saw how China is advancing both with ecology, music, technology and in education. Their middle class seemed to be if not thriving at least expanding. My first impression of an ominous police state was quickly dispelled when walking the streets in the evening. I did not see a significant police presence. However, I live in Baltimore now and we have more shooting casualties than in Iraq as of the past week. China, it was nice, people respectable and safe. I would rather maybe suck in some coal smog on street as opposed to catching stray lead in my lungs. In my conversations with older Chinese citizens I could only detect a modest dislike of the Japanese, but not any animosity towards Americans or Westerns in general. Again people need to drop their Chinese made Ipods, Tablets, Androids, Flat screens and laptops. Leave their house and actually visit the world. Republican/Democrat.... All would be welcomed because the world is a better place when it is a smaller place. Not so big, scary and different. Tell Trump they even have a Big Wall there. Peace.

When one takes into consideration that of China’s national frontier stretches some 9.6 square million kilometres, about the size of the United States. CO2 stays in air for about 100 years. Depending on how you define “fairness”, if you add up all CO2 each country emitted in the past 100 years, China is not number 1 polluter. China lacks of oil and gas resources, China desperately wanted to switch to new energy. China invested 2x $ in renewables than the US. I believe China’s pledge in carbon neutrality in 2060 is serious. When China no longer needs oil and gas, the world will undergo very very deep changes.

I think that for Western democracies, especially American citizens, they first need to figure out the relationship between the Chinese government and the people and the relationship between the Chinese army and the Chinese people. For the Chinese, the Chinese government is more like a "parent" in a super family, while the Chinese army is called the "people's soldiers". Their relationship with Chinese citizens may be closer than Americans thought.

Let me fix this really quickly as an environmental scientist: Add a per capita the US will come top 1st for sure. And, how about adding Carbon footprint too? CC is a global issue which everybody has to get involved on committing GHG emission if not we might going to face some really serious problem in the long run such as shortage of food production due to the loss of arable farmland via too much heat, possible releasing pathogen of the past within either polar or perma-frost land, or simply lost of coastal land without proper sea barrier construction due to polar ice melting.

I'm so glad that we finally have vloggers like Cyrus and some others to speak for China. I think Chinese government will need to have a lot of English spokesman like him to educate people live in the western countries to understand better how China truly is. In my subjective opinion, people live in the counties of Europe and America have been "brain washed" by those mainstream media, and majority of them are very biased about China. They wouldn't spend the time to understand China themselves, so we need more vloggers like Cyrus to help them out.
