My favorite symphony. I've loved this since hearing the Kondrashin version in the 80s. I have never heard any other piece of music with which I have identified so totally. To hear this version is wonderful!

It is really special work. I stumbled across it by accident as a teenager borrowing the LP from the record library. Probably the same recording as you (Kondrashin). It has been a part of my life ever since.

I don't understand why there are so many hateful comments on here. Thank you for uploading this excellent account of this fascinating document. You help to shed new light on this enigmatic symphony.

Incredible performance.

Superb. You both exhibit a full command over every aspect of this delicious music. This massive symphony requires a "chamber-music" touch which you approach beautifully. Great job!

Very well done! Always wondered what it would sound like on pianos. Thank you for this.

So maybe this is a bit on the schoolboy-insensitive side but the fellas look fetching in the suits and nice haircuts and deserve credit for the ambition shown here. The music is incredible, the best of D.Sch., sounds almost more revealing than with the big orchestra, but getting drunk ahead of time for the listening is a good idea. In such a state one is more likely to be more forgiving of these pianists' interpretive limitations and even relate more appreciatively to this crazy composition.

Is it possible to get the score (2 piano reduction)? it's interesting how the percussion solo at the end of mvt 2 was interpreted.

It absolutely is, I managed to eventually find one digging through Google shopping. Hard to get the search criteria down and there's a few four hands piano versions of different symphonies. Bit pricey, often between 80-130$ but having purchased a few years ago can confirm it's totally worth it.

As with the Chandos recording, likewise oblivious to the idiom.

Ah, to what idiom, and how do you know? I do not need anyone to reply for me, I want to your opinion
