Thanks for including Redding. I love about halfway between Eureka and San Francisco and we certainly miss out on most of these sims because of the relatively sparse population. Redding is about the shaking we would expect from Cascadia, so I appreciate it.

Would love a Canada specific Cascadia video, maybe including tsunami impacts? (Not sure if that’s something you could do). Just since I feel like it’s rarely talked about. Vancouver and Victoria I would have to imagine are in great danger of major tsunami flooding

Thanks for sponsoring Geolgyhub today, I live on the Salish Sea and this is definitely a concern. But also the local faults can produce mag7 quakes and there's a few of those. Nick Zentner's channel had "Lucinda Leonard - Tsunami in the Salish Sea", Prof Leonard from UVIC, presentation about some of these risks.

Hey came from Geology Hub, and I heard you have Earthquake sims, can you do one on the Wasatch Fault in Salt Lake City, while I am aware of it, I actually don't know where the line offically starts and ends, and it would help out alot since I'm not fully sure where safety will be!

I live in western Canada. And we get m3-m4 in my town alot. (I live in south Okanagan) (Also I like how the map shows the Okanagan as separate then Kelowna even though Kelowna is the center of the Okanagan.)*guess Americans don't know about us too well eh*😂 We don't have any train lines in our town but it sounds like a giant fright train rumbles through when we do get a quake. Luckily the worst that happen is a plant or stuff on shelves fall over for damage. (The most dangerous for earthquakes here is when hiking since theirs a bunch of slot canyons and huge rock formations to get stuck in/on during a quake. Also quakes dislodge boulders on mountain sides too and they are very dangerous.

I pray they will not experience a M9.0 or above. I have family in Anchorage Alaska and my dad was stationed in the Air Force there in 1964 M9.2 temblor. My heart ❤️ goes out to all of us on the West Coast!

I do not agree. San Francisco will be destroyed if a 9.0+ hits. Certainly not minimal structural damage. I don't know what makes you think SF will be spared from the BIG ONE.
@ART-9583 ай бұрын
It's far away from center of earthquake, if it was where San Francisco, it would shake as hell, and cause catastrophic damage, but epicenter of Cascadia earthquake is far away from San Francisco. And one more thing: San Francisco is standing on the San Andreas fault, and it can't cause earthquake with magnitude over 8.2.
@lili-iu8yp3 ай бұрын
@@ART-958 You think separately for the two factors. Try combine both. Redo the simulation.
