Back in the days when David was a student at the Royal Academy of Music I was one of his pupils - It was an enormous pleasure to sit and watch his technique even as a young man.

Very beautiful piece, a lot of images of the west, the beginning is wide as the open sky. Then I might have heard some mustangs galloping wild and free. And all played by my hero mr Russell, well what else do we need. Thank you for this amazing piece!!! I love it. 🙏🙏

Magnificent! Aside from the extraordinary dynamics of the piece itself, such wide-ranging technique! it’s the first time I think I’ve seen vibrato in classical guitar that’s lateral to the fretboard rather than parallel to it. And occasionally picking technique to achieve dynamics that seems to be emulating using a plectrum (although there was no close-up to be certain). Truly embracing everything that the guitar offers. Bravo maestro!
@Falaxuper2 жыл бұрын
Another piece that utilises this vibrato technique is Sonatina Libre by Dyens (Fuoco), but you're right - a rare sight

Noted that someone thought the beginning sounded Asian. It is not. Rather it is a traditional American song (o bury me not on the lone prarie) that has its origins In a Gaelic lament.
