No it isn't. Longstreet, Lee and Grant were already serving and were in the assault on the Mexican capital in 1848. Sherman got hung up in California when 2 ships sank under him or he would've been there. They should've made a film about that war. Lee led troops through a lava bed and Grant hoisted a cannon up into a church tower to fire down on the Mexican troops. Longstreet ran the flag up to a big wall but was felled, he handed the flag off to his best friend, George Pickett, who took the Stars & Stripes over the wall.

What a dashing character Errol Flynn was, and Ronald Regan was always a true American hero. To think that the lead characters in America's darkest tragedy all served together, this film is a must watch.

In this movie is an actor whose talent dwarfs that of Errol Flynn, the great Raymond Massey. Massey dominates the screen as the abolitionist John Brown. Barely outdone is Van Heflin in a jewel of a performance. This move is very ambiguous in its meaning. On the one hand it denounces slavery, on the other it trumpets Jefferson Davis, Lee and Jeb Stuart as if they were noble heroes. Brave certainly but their cause was anything but noble. The blood of millions on their gentlemanly hands. The southern government was built on the putrid stench of slavery. Their lost cause was deservedly just that. Lost.

@@juanitajones6900 `Yes. And "They Died with Their Boots On" is also really inaccurate. It is hoped that some people will become curious enough to read the true history. The deeper history behind the financial backers of John Brown is just the tip of the iceberg. These men wanted Kansas to be a free state because if it became a slave state, they would lose votes in Congress that kept their tariffs on Southern produce in place. The infrastructure of the North that made these men rich was paid for by the South which received no benefit, which was unconstitutional. This had gone on for decades, and the Northern Industrialists got greedier. The other reason for their support of John Brown was the idea that they would have a new, cheaper labor force of freed slaves who would not understand the value of money. When the Haarper's Ferry Raid failed, they left for Canada until things cooled down. When Lincoln was elected three Southern states seceded. The first thing Lincoln did was offer them the deal that they could keep their slaves if they returned to the Union and paid the new, higher tariff. They refused. "Hussars were first incorporated into the Black Army of Hungary, and by 1490, they became the standard form of cavalry. Hungarian hussars were copied all across Europe, not just hired as mercenaries. Their fighting tactics were most envied, as they proved to be successful in almost all battles, seemingly effortlessly." (wikipedia)

Ex-presidente Reagan, uno de los más grandes y queridos , siempre es un placer verlo actual. Los E.U. nuca tendrán un presidente tan amable y defensor de los ideales conservativos.

Enjoyable film but incredibly historically inaccurate. John Brown's son Jason did not die prior to the Raid - he lived to a ripe old age of 89 and died in Ohio in 1912. He was also married with children at the time rather than a teenager. The six West Point cadets did not graduate at the same time - Longstreet graduated in 1842, Custer in 1861, Sheridan in 1853. Because of their age differences, it's unlikely that Custer and Jefferson Davis' daughters had any sort of romantic link. Brown's band of men was never large, and the final fight at Harper's Ferry is completely bogus (hundreds of Federal troops were already at the site, and Brown's "army" was fairly small). Five of Brown's men at Harper's Ferry were African-American, but the film shows only white men. The railroad in the film was actually not built until 1879. There is no evidence that Custer and Stuart knew each other. Historians generally consider SANTA FE TRAIL one of the most inaccurate US history films, although the cast is great.

Leave it to Hollywood to make a movie and not tell the real and whole story!! Instead they skip over lie in order to make the movie more colorful!!!!

You are correct.... Sheridan and Custer most likely didn't know each other before the war

The entire storyline is pathetic at best nothing but Union propaganda! Errol Flynn and Olivia de Havilland deserve much better writers than we've ever had in Hollywood or should I say Holly weird!
