Warren, I just rebuilt my swing cylinder on my 416 CAT, and looking at all those hoses and bolts I just decided to leave it on there! It wasn't that difficult! Also I don't have a HUGE vice to hold it while I take off the gland!! Most of the work you do on the piston and gland which comes right out!!! Sure wish I had a crane like yours though! One job I'm putting off is the seal on my torque converter is worn and she leaks when you shut her off. According to the manual, you rig up a sling to lower the tranny off of the roof of the cab. Sounds like fun!? Well at 63 I'm going to think on this a while!! Love your videos and your doggies!!

Hey Warren, I am in Winnipeg Canada and I would like to thank you for your channel. I am an old HVAC mechanic so I have a slight knowledge of your trade. More importantly,I have been battling a serious infection the last two weeks and thank heavens I found your channel ,I have been unable to do anything of late, so you have provided a much needed way to pass the time. Thankfully, this nonsense I have contracted is leaving, however I am still going to follow your adventures. All the best Jack Martin

Never ceases to amaze me how deep and broad is your knowledge base and how methodical you are in your work. So tell me your secret on how you keep that camera clipped to the bill of your cap without it pulling the back of your cap up? I wear mine like that and it feels like I need a counter weight so it doesn't tip down over my eyes. You think some Red Locktite inside the headband might help? Appreciate all your video editing done in addition to your already full days.

I used to use a piece of steel banding material, measure my OD + some for the ears. I would form it into a compression ring with the ends bent out at 90 degrees and hold them tight against the lubed o-rings and seals with needle nose locking pliers to help keep them from rolling over. Commercially a piston compressor tool with the right ID could do the same thing. It's like having an extra hand. I keep a 4' length of banding strap in my truck for those oh cr*p momments.

Warren, great video. How many PSI does it take to take off that Nut at the 10:21 mark? I have a 310C and I was hoping I could do it with a cheater bar. I'm not a mechanics so I don't want to put no more money than possible into this project. Will the Earthquake XT 1/2" drive work with my small compressor from HF work? What size socket it that? Mine appears to be a 46mm (on the flats the nut measures 1.8"). Does that sound about right?

easier to leave the cylinder in the machine and just use a come-along to pull the rod with the gland and the piston out - you forgot to remove the snap ring and install the temporary red ring to prevent buggering up the gland threads before pulling the gland out.
