Thanks for the videos. I haven’t worked on equipment in 30 years and even then, transmission rebuilds went to the home shop in Shawnee Mission, Kansas and just got swapped in the field shop. Good info.

Good to hear things are looking up for you and your family Warren. Still hoping you find Trouble! Amazed at the variety of power tools you guys have these days. Ratchets were hi tech. in my day! And I always hated shifting spanners.

I was in the fire service for 25 years. We once purchased an engine with an Allison transmission. The transmission went south at about 9,000 miles. There was no record of the thing for parts. We eventually found out that it was a prototype transmission that only two of were made.

The proper term for those adjustable wrenches is a Swedish nut lathe L.O.L, I hate working on farmer fix stuff when they've messed bolts nuts and hydraulic fittings up trying to get stuff apart or to stop it leaking in the field. It sounds like that machine was cheap for a reason if it's already had a transmission. Forestry must treat machines like farmers/construction guys who say F'it it's only a rental when they don't look after machines they hire in. I got to work on my JCB trans and rear axle this year I got seals and bearings going out, luckily that looks a lot easier to work on. When i do those style joints I very carefully take them apart and wrap the cross round with electrical tape so i don't have that problem dropping the cups and all the rollers fall out in the $#!t, it saves loads of hassle. Thanks for the video, take care.

5.9 Cummins are a good engine, but a major pain in the ass when they go south. 3100 series Cats are about the same deal. International was the way to go (not so much after 2010) for medium duty engines. In a case like this it's a works kit and a reman head, 3 days of labor and you're ready to roll again.

If I was closer I'd come get that 12v underway for you. Sorry again about Trouble and I hope you find him. It never fails, every time you're under a machine with a bucket of oil everything falls in the oil. If I had a bucket of oil under the genset at the front of an RV and I was at the back working and I dropped a wrench, right into the oil it goes.

Hi , your work work is impressive . Do you think a pit would help on servicing the backhoes and heavy trucks ?
@oldfarmer47005 жыл бұрын
I bought a 1998 12 valve and it used the shit out of oil, old timer bought it new and just idled around his farm and never worked it. Probably had a half million hours on it but only 98 thousand miles. If that service truck was a company truck I bet it was idled lots and the cylinders are smooth as glass if it's using oil. The local electric and phone company trucks like the one you have they start them in the morning and turn them off at quitting time. Always running even during their nap times and two hour lunches. Lol

looks easy to me, my old 580B doesn't have those nice drive shafts , have to split the tractor to get at the clutch or transmission, after you remove the hoe and loader.
@amunderdog5 жыл бұрын
Same as the 580K; the first models had horrible transmissions. By Phase three in the 90's they had the bugs worked out of the whole machine. It was still miserable on the road.

Daisy will be missing Trouble, that will be why she is out of sorts.Those adjustable spanners that round the corners off nuts are known as, Nut Fuckers, in New Zealand.
@DoRC5 жыл бұрын
Adjustable wrenches get a bad rep because people use cheap ones and/or don't use them properly. A good quality adjustable wrench used properly won't round a bolt any more than an open end wrench will.
@MrPaul1f5 жыл бұрын
Agree, adjustables arent my imediate go too but can be a real time saver. In the workshop ill soonest get the right sized spanner but fixing something broken down in the field with limited tools and my adjustables are my go too. I have a variety of bahco adjustables and these are well made certainly not nut rounders.

Well how bout that, Warren is wearing gloves !! Your body will go through withdraws for a few months and a intense thirst for petroleum will occur 😜 They are definitely hard to get use to! Warren take a snap shot of your hands and compare them in a couple months. My kids talked about my hands for months 😂 I can only imagine what is in our bodies !!

If you’re going to be in business for yourself you MUST have the mentality that you’re going to die trying to make a living. If you don’t have that mentality, you need to work for someone else. Most people don’t believe me when I say that I made more money working for someone else but I didn’t have any freedom. Freedom is what drives successful small business owners.
