Staying now and it’s actually pretty nice now. Our room was so cold we had to turn up the air. Super clean, staff is nice. And the walk isn’t bad to the strip. If you want to go to Vegas, walk to the strip - have fun, but retreat to a place that’s a bit more quiet - this is it.

Great video with a lot of good info. I stayed off strip in a non-casino hotel in 2016 for a work event. While that hotel was ok it was boring. When I'm in Vegas for vaca I will continue to stay on the strip.

I’m staying at this hotel right now and I couldn’t agree more with your review. The room temperature is far too hot and it can’t be changed, there is no casino - in fact yesterday I could see the outside sign being removed. I’m staying here because my company booked it for me, I wonder why!

The warmer temperatures in a hotel room would also bother me too. It's too bad to hear that the hotel wasn't as nice as it could have been especially with the location. Thank you for always providing honest opinions in your hotel reviews! Great video!

+Scottman895 Travel Yeah.. I had high hopes for this Westin but was really quite disappointed.

We must have been there close to the same time. We stayed Sept 8/9/10. I was not impressed with the facility. The walk between the hotel and the strip was gross. Taxi's don't line up here like at better properties (so you'll have to wait a little for an uber or a taxi). Our A/C broke on our final night - when it worked it was very loud. I think a spot-on review. 2.5/5 is where I would land, too.

This was like $130 a night in August... Yes, resort fee of about $20/night

I stayed at the Westin a few yrs ago..I can't say anything neg about it. Clean hotel felt safe and was quiet. Easy walk to the strip. Was a store next door with beverages and subs. Only thing missing was a shuttle. Other than that I enjoyed my stay

+David Musielak Shower bottle items yes! Nobody is going to use my leftover shower gel and shampoo.. they're just going to throw it out. So I might as well get some more use out of it :). I'm in alot of hotels for one night.. sometimes I'll bring them from one hotel to another if I know the next one has inferior soaps :)

The standard rooms here quite plain and boring with an ugly flat-screen TV (with an ugly wide frame around the edge) straight out of 200....and no refrigerator! You have to get a fancy suite to get a fridge. The main lobby and bar/lounge/restaurant area is the most impressive thing about this Westin location. It's beautiful, darkly lit and with the removal of the casino, it is eerily quiet and tranquil (a nice alternative to the noisy fanfare of the main strip gaming hotels) Ellis Island hotel 1 block away has nicer standard rooms+suites at a much better price point and EVERY room comes with a fridge.

Yeah, I used to work for westin back in the day. The only good thing you can count on is the heavenly bed. It's hit and miss with everything else, depending on the property. Ritz Carlton is good about the details and blowing smoke up your ass, but the one I worked at was terrible to employees. Least having worked in hospitality, I can tell what's smoke and mirrors, and what's genuine.

Yellow Productions yes and no, it's more a case for you get what you hire. I've stayed at cheaper places, but it's when the people care that makes the difference.
