Thank you for your setup video. It helps me to understand what to expect if I purchase this generator. Your time to do this is much appreciated.

Nice genny. I had thought about doing something like that, but back in 2023 we were down 4 days in a row down here in Louisiana, and by the end of day 1 there wasn't a drop of gas anywhere. I wound up just biting the bullet and getting a 24kw whole home stand by that is connected to natural gas. We just had our first major outage of 2024 with Beryl and i ran for 2 days whole home no issues. About 35$ of NG for 2 days...well worth it vs the cost of a hotel and losing all my food.

Yeah, I have been thinking of switching to Natural Gass also but that would entail getting a whole setup with a tank, etc. That would entail a bunch of other costs and the genny would need to sit in one place. I need to be able to run it around because it will sit outside when running. My current plan is to get about a 200 gallon gas tank and then run my vehicles out of that tank also so that the gas never gets old. We haven't had a major outage for 2 or 3 years so we are about due for our next one. We get a tornado in the neighborhood about every 20 years and an ice storm about every 10 years. Both have been happening more frequently though... I think I will go with the gas tank for now.

Great video! Would it be possible to measure the tire diameter, and to measure the size of the generator without the wheels or the top lifting bracket? I want to know if I can fit it in the back of my truck that has a canopy on it. The opening in my truck is 36" and the listed generator height is 40.5". I'm wondering if I can just slip in the back of my truck without the wheels or top lifting bracket. Hope the generators' been good to you so far!

Hi Alex, Bad news. We had a disastrous fire and the generator tires as well as a lot of other stuff was a total loss. SV

Personally I think it’s better to have two smaller in parallel, you can run a smaller one for 90% of your house and save on fuel plus have back up in case one goes down.
@kakaliac3 ай бұрын
Got the same one but youll need to run two 14-50 inlets to onbtain the full power. One 14-50 max is around 12000 watts at 50 amps.

How are you going to connect it to your house? Panel Disconnect or transfer switch?

you need non ethanol gas. if you use ethanol it leaves varnish in tank an carb. also if sits you need stabilizer.
@stevevanderloop50183 ай бұрын
Yep, I keep 100 gallons of stabilized non ethanol gas around at all times. 100 gallons will last me about 3 days running flat out. I don't plan to run flat out though. Plan is to run the genny to make the freezers cold and then shut off for until they warm up. Winter time takes MUCH longer to warm up than summer. Bad part is that no tornadoes happen around here in winter. Last big outage we had was 3 days because of an ice storm though. One can always hope for that!
@nodak813 ай бұрын
Not true at all. As long as you run the carb dry it's just fine. Been running all my equipment on ethanol gas for over 17 years and have never had a fuel issue with any of my 40+ pieces of equipment, including nine generators. I do use stabilizer but you should be using that use that in non-ethanol fuel too. Many places non-ethanol is near impossible to find and it costs an arm and a leg.
@northpasturefarmsgrassfedm28203 ай бұрын
@@nodak81 No worries. You do you and I will continue to do me. I must admit I don't have that many gas engines around the place, only 5. As long as I can get non ethanol gasoline fairly easily I will continue to do it. I think it is about 15 cents more per gallon. My peace of mind is worth that. No worries.
@Samlol23_drrich6 ай бұрын
It can run for 15 minutes until you need to refill the tank(joke). You should put in a 500# propane tank and add a motor snorkel. I have a smaller westinghouse. Its been great. Can run 10 days 24/7 from that 500# tank. Good luck. Great machine
@northpasturefarmsgrassfedm28206 ай бұрын
Thanks for the data! I will think about it most of the time our outages only last a day or two. If the end of the world happens, 500 gallons won't last long enough and I will have to figure out something else to do with all my frozen meat. No worries.
@Samlol23_drrich6 ай бұрын
@@northpasturefarmsgrassfedm2820 same with us. We just happened to buy a house with a pool and buried 500# propane tank cause there is no natural gas in our area. Now if you have piped in natural gas it can run forever. When I got my Westinghouse (only 12k), I went online and I think the company is called US Carbeurations. It’s basically a regulator you mount on the generator frame and a thicker gasket that sits between the carb and intake that replaces the oem gasket. The gasket has a tube mounted through it that feeds the propane from the regulator into the motor. Very cool idea and easy to install. I’ve been running it for 10 years until I needed a new generator because mice ate through the wires in my old Westinghouse. The new one runs on propane or gas already but the motor snorkel is better cause it has a way to prime it. Anyway good luck and great machine you got. I. Jealous.

11 hours of runtime on 17 gallons of gas. Good luck with that.
@northpasturefarmsgrassfedm28206 ай бұрын
Yeah, it will probably be less run time on that much fuel. But it sure beats being totally out of power! I will need to get a big gasoline tank around here, for sure.
