This is a truly great video. Imagine if someone had made something similar 50 years ago in the 1970s. We'd be fascinated by the clothing, the cars, the snatches of conversation, the buildings etc. In years to come this could be regarded as an historical record of Weston seafront as it was in 2024. An observational documentary. Great work!

Personally I love Weston I’m going on holiday there again next June. It’s great it’s flat and everything is located in a small area. I think it’s the cleanest looking seaside holiday town in the UK It’s not blighted by stag and hen parties making it a great place for family holidays.

Thank you so much for this video. It brought back such wonderful memories. I spent a week in Weston in August 1973. As a teenager I went with my parents and my first girlfriend.I remember the lovely old pier, Birnbeck(?) And sneaking into the Winter Gardens for an underage half pint and listening to live music.Thank you again, and where did all those years go ?

As a child in the late fifties early sixties I was brought here for days out and the occasional long weekend, we always called it Weston Super Mud as for the life of me I can never remember seeing the sea just the sandy mud flats, still have fond memories of the place though.

Excellent video on Weston, like you say certainly nowhere near the worst seaside resort. I absolutely love it here, problem is it seemed to get a bad name in the 90s and it's been hard for the resort to shake that, the doom and gloomers like nothing better than to talk rubbish and feed their negative thoughts out to others.

Being only an hour & 20 mins away am a regular visitor to Weston. Always like to stay for a night or two - The Grand Atlantic Hotel, Royal Grosvenor but mainly at The Sandringham which is more central. Have walked down to the old Birnbeck pier but never far the other way towards what was the Sea life centre. Always good walk along the pier & through the town area. Will be back there soon.

thanks for visiting I moved to wsm 10 years ago. i live on the seafront further south opposite the tropicana. I love wsm now. as a teen in the 90s living in a village nearby, I hated it. left for Scotland at 18, never intending to live here. I love the flat walkable promenade. The tide goes out between a mile and a mile and a half. Two or three times a year it comes in higher than the first sea wall. There is a second sea wall with gates that get closed to keep the sea from flooding. well done finding a low wind day.

I’ve been to Weston several times as a youngster. The restaurant where you ended the video used to be the Tropicana pool. I don’t know what the pier is like now. Used to be a fun fair in there. We locals call it Weston super mud as the tide is always out. I haven’t been since the 70s. Great video and thank you.

I've been to Weston super mare about 10 to 15 times, the first time was a week school trip when I was 13 yrs, we stayed at a caravan park in Brean and it rained most of the week!. We ended up at some restaurant on seafront, can't remember what it was called, but probably doesn't exist anymore!, even though it was raining most of the time, still had a good time. I was persuaded to go on 4 day coach holiday to Weston super mare, and went out on daytrips, but stayed at this hotel in Weston called the Midland Hotel and it was the worst I had ever stayed at, when I was watching your video, you walked past the hotel, I can't believe it's still open, it's okay if you don't mind slumming it!.I've been a chambermaid in lots of hotels and was always told if you keep the rooms clean and presentable, the customer will come back, they notice when things are missed and have every right to complain!, it's worse than the Norbreck hotel in Blackpool and that's a dive!

Weston is an amazing place to visit, excellent beach and great places to eat and drink. I don't think a £1.00 to visit the Pier is excessive, but I do think children under the age of 15 should be free.
