Louie Simmons is widely regarded as the 'Strength Coaches, Strength Coach' and is the founder of the world-renowned gym called Westside Barbell in Columbus, Ohio.
Westside Barbell is an invitation-only training laboratory where only the strongest of mind and body survive. Our goal is simple: “To become the best and push every boundary known to man in doing so.”
This gym has produced more world records in powerlifting than any other in the World, and Louie has been regarded as one of the main reasons that the conjugate style of training has been popularized in today's training methods.
Outside of powerlifting, Louie is a strength consultant for many NFL, NBA, MBA teams, along with having trained gold medal sprinters, pro boxers, UFC fighters, and many more athletes out of his gym via the conjugate method of strength training.

I wonder what Louie's thoughts are on Larry Wheels? I've never heard him talk about him and I feel Larry is one of the strongest individuals alive today when it comes to a wide variety of strengths.. he squats big, deadlifts big, benches big, can log press big, arm wrestle world class wrestlers.. he does it all

Joe DiMarco was my good friend and coach.. he thought up the box squat and coached George frenn.. Joe spotted pat Casey on the 617 bench… he benched 505 drug free at 220:body weight… he is also the inventor of the popular LEVER BELT used today in gyms everywhere!

The bench manual, and the squat and deadlift manual. They are available on the website for $20.00 each. For the record, I don’t work for them, nor do I get paid in anyway. Good training

I agree with Louie on the best shirt idea. The new bench shirt don’t prove real strength. I think it needs to be eliminated as well

I've been wondering if a box squat is safe for the lower back when it partially lets out the protective muscle tension. But maybe it's best to keep your middle body in tension all the time, even if your legs relax. The correct execution technique is still in the search.

will a complete beginner who wants to get muscular and strong and healthy benefit from the conjugate club or is it too complicated and only for advanced guys? Thank you
@TurnTheStoveOnBlaze
@TurnTheStoveOnBlaze 2 жыл бұрын
To be honest, it’s not for beginners. You need to have a base already. Learn & master the squat, bench & deadlift before attempting variations. Hope this helps.

Can’t fault Louie and all he’s done on his training methodologies and giving information to the world. But when he starts going on his rants about I took so and so from 729 to a 904 in a year I can’t help but think that most of that quick progress has mostly come from steroids or change in lifting gear and not so much his training methodology
@WestsideBarbellOfficial
@WestsideBarbellOfficial 2 жыл бұрын
We would have to respectfully disagree with that opinion. Rapid progress comes via optimal training [volume and maximal CNS stimulation via force input] we have had many USADA drug tested athletes make immense gains in shorter spaces of time who dont compete in the realm of powerlifting. When you line up the correct hierarchy of training and environment to match the genetic potential of an athlete rapid progress should ensue. No amount of gear can make up for that. -WSBB

I am always amazed how much Louie makes distinctions when he is discussing training and lifters. I used to hear people say Westside was mainly for equipped lifters but I dont think that anymore after listening to Louie myself and hearing him constantly make distinctions in lifters and training between equipped and raw.

if anyone wants to learn something go listen to alex bromley . he is genius on programing , this channel tells you the same thing you can buy out of any book on excersises an you can learn half this stuff on websites . anyone who argues is a newbie . i can honestly say i havent learned anything at all from louis simmons or westside barbell. ive learned so much more from alex bromley an jim wendler . the only thing westside could help me with is lifting in a suite an i will stop lifting before i ever put a suite on. louis was a passionate guy but he wasnt the guru of powerlifting . he was a expert on equiped lifting
