They can, but I’m not sure they’d be as good as free squats as you’re breaking up the tension on the muscle every rep

Save the big barbell movements for ME and DE work. Louie once said that 80% of what his lifters do is smaller movements. Use those smaller exercises for hypertrophy.

Box squats are very dangerous and ineffective when done incorrectly. Anything you do in the gym with poor technique will be dangerous, and have minimal effect. Leave your ego at the door, and do the exercises correctly.

Actually studies show box squats have less compressive loading than free squats, and as far as I’m aware there are no longitudinal studies comparing injury rates (or training outcomes) so you don’t really have anything to support your position

you do realise that every power lifter at the top level is on steroids, the playing ground is equal. you must be new to the sport of you think only taking roids is gonna make you squat 1100lbs
