It's great isn't it? 👍 Removing the electronic image stabilisation allows the phone to record video in the native resolution of the camera. Many phones use a 3K/4K image and then crop this to 1080p to allow for electronic image stabilisation using the spare frames outside of the video frame. The OnePlus 7 Pro, Pixel range and many others can benefit from this feature using Filmic Pro - it's excellent 👍

Man you did some quite great job over there! Truly appreciate it, and the ultra wide lens is super amazing capturing natural details of the footage but once you go extra zoom you lose clarity I think it's probably because of the lenses layer parts, i don't know if Sony uses plastic lenses instead of glass.

I may need to look into this app. Judging by the quality of this video the quality is quite stellar. I was using camera mx to record in 4k. Thanks for this my friend. Im becoming a big fan of not just you but the beautiful scenery around you too

South Wales 👍 some of my other video tests have a selection of the other locations I use - the enormous Wind Farm is one of the best, so peaceful and I don't get disturbed by people wanting to photo bomb my video 😂😂

I wish gimbals had a spot to attach the rode mic and that phones being aimed at pro video had headphone Jack's to take an external mic. I've been experimenting with the Pro cam 2018 app on Huawei P30pro. Will have to try out filmic pros app on it now lol. Great video BTW. And to think it was all made just using a mobile phone.

Yeah it's tough to find a gimbal which has room to mount a microphone as well, I suppose you could clip one to clothing but you'd have to be careful not to snag the wire whilst walking, not ideal. Can you install open camera app to xperia 1 and try enabling the eis on 4k using the open camera app. On my xzp it is not supported i dont know why but whe I tried with my xiaomi mi max 3 it really made my 4k video stabilized. But the mi max 3 regular camera app doesnt suport eis on 4k but using open camera app it stabilized the 4k of mi max 3.

The phone's been returned now but I tried this when I had it. As Sony doesn't open up the camera API 2 support fully, third party apps don't always support the full amount of features. Therefore EIS doesn't work with Open Camera unfortunately. Even after the latest update, the 4K video from the standard camera app is really bad. Using Cinema Pro is better but not everyone will know it's even there or won't fully understand how to get the most from it. Sony dropped the ball on this one, hopefully they can rectify with the rumoured Xperia 2? Appreciate you watching, thank you 👍

You can set Filmic Pro to apply an overlay to help frame a 21:9 image in editing but it doesn't film natively like the built in Cinema Pro app.. Filmic Pro has more advanced colour, focus, exposure and colour control, as well as audio and resolution control 👍

Proper windy!! If you look closely at the image you can see the top of the gimbal is being moved (basically the wind hitting the flat edge of the phone). The wind funnels up through the valley - even on bright sunny days like this - nightmare scenario 😂

There's another place I go for video tests which allows you to stand right up close, very imposing but quite spectacular - check out my P30 Pro video which shows this on more detail 👍

Older Sony flagships were blacklisted from using Filmic Pro due to 'major issues' when using it with those devices. This was confirmed by Filmic back when they were looking to add support..I'm not sure what the issues are/were but obviously they were deemed bad enough not to support. Shame, but better to have a fully working app than one which causes problems, especially as it's a paid app

The OIS is not fully supported in Filmic Pro yet so that's why a I used a Gimbal. It works okay for both the stock and Cinema Pro apps 👍

True, maybe they'll add it in an update but their only problem is that they have to cater for literally hundreds of Android handset's and it's a bit of a juggling act. Although I do love Filmic for the added control over video 👍

Yeah I noticed that when editing 😀 the ultra wide angle lens has a fixed f2.4 lens vs the f1.6 of the main wide lens so it has slightly different characteristics. This is typical of many smartphone lenses (not all though) - it can usually be matched in editing but I wanted to show it as is an unedited so potential buyers will know what to expect out if the box 👍

I only realised the wind noise issue when I watched it back. It didn't actually feel that windy but obviously it was worse than I thought! Sorry, go check out my other video test for the Xperia 1 if you haven't already - should be better 👍
