Matt you’re right. I love the feel of the blade and the sound of the feed back. It’s all about technique. 💈💈💈

I just had my 1st ever shave with a Single Edge Safety Razor. I picked up a Gem Featherweight for next to nothing in great condition (just a little gold worn off do to use by its' previous owner) and I am VERY Impressed. I Like the way it felt while shaving BUT the real trick is just how much closer the shave feels. Great addition to any shave den!!!

I grew up using a SE, my dad always used one so that’s what I started with. Never used a DE until my late 50s/early 60s. I need to go back and try a SE again now.

Very informative! Timely for me personally, since I recently got an Ever Ready 1914 off ebay and am using a single edge razor for the first time (since disposables). There is definitely a learning curve, but for a 100+ year old razor, they give an excellent shave.

The blue Star gem razor blades I've seen around. I wish more modern gem razors were available. I own an above the tie Gem razor and I want something else like that.. The only other one is the blackland Sabre and the Rocnel gem which I believe is sadly discontinued. I do know that Phoenix artisan accoutrements is going to be releasing one soon.. their stainless steel version of their starling.. I'm looking forward to that and pray it's only a hundred dollars or less..

Just came across a ever-ready today at a antique shop for 30 bucks with case. I didn't buy it because I didn't know what kind of blades it took. I'm going back to buy it now.

hi there, I am a longtime fan. Finally invested in every ready razor for shaving my legs and underarms but when I use mine there is no hair removal but I - 2 hairs!! Am I doing something wrong or is it possible the vintage ever ready razors that are in the packet are blunt??? I'm so confused.

Thank you for this video. I am from Germany and the type of SE razor you got over here, if you got one at all, are siblings of the 1903 Wilkinson Sword patent razor, I own several Henckels Rapides, a Darwin and of course a Rolls Razor. In Europe they went in a totally different direction. In the US the Design became more simplified, in Europe, especially in the UK they became more complicated and overengineerd.

What do you think of PAA'S single edge?
@buddhamack14916 жыл бұрын
Very interesting, I was unaware the single edge was so different from the double. I would love to see another showdown of double edge blades series. I've been trying out some new blades on the market trying to find the most affordable with the best feel. I would be interested to see your thoughts on some of these vs your favorites. There is some decent savings to be made over the years for those that need to stick to a budget but still want a great shave.

What's the name of the stroppable gem blade

I've been trying to look into the older "curvfit" ravors. I believe they were aimed towards women. Anyways, will they take the same SE blade as the other SE ravors. I was curious because the curvfit is exactly that, curved.

Thanks for the information on these razors. I have several Gem SEs, and they're very (very) nice. (Caveat: my experience with Gem carbon steel blades seems to be part of a growing consensus that these blades are AWFUL; Gem stainlesses, though, are sweet.) A while back, I was on the Gem-Personna webpage, and noticed a large number of different single edge blades advertised, but among the suggested uses on the page for the blades, shaving was universally absent. ASR seems almost ashamed that it has long made, and continues to make, blades shavers like. I did notice that some blades were "three faceted," and others "two faceted." To your knowledge, is the number of facet cuts the thing that distinguishes paint scrapers from face shavers, or, more generally, have you any insight about how to identify Gem shaving blades on this webpage, because Gem-Personna sure isn't going to help?

I did not get the memo. I have no issue with carbon steel blades. No issues with rust. They shave very well in my 1912 ER Razor and in my 1924 Shovel head. I do mainly use GEM PTFE SS blades. I only shave with SE’s. After trial and error those are the only two razors I use. To each his own. Continue having great shaved.

Excuse my ignorance the blade for a single edge razor its the same blade that can be use in a weck razor?

There is nothing the same as using a proper gem razor with the proper blades. I have my grandfather's old gem.. the box broke years ago but I still have the razor and several of the original blades. If you want to whack some hair this is the tool of choice.
