I'm going thru same thing with 8955, I reduced the wire length to 5'. Helped a lot with amps but still in LA mode. Getting full 55 amps when charging now. I emailed WFCO for a jumper hopefully I will get one. Great video, thanks for sharing!

So this jumper forced the box to a lithium profile is that correct? Can you tell me someone specifically at WFCo to talk to please? Thanks for this video! Great news!!

@richarddupree426 Yes, the jumper forces it into that mode . You can go to the wfco website and go to support and send a message to them

Ayup, running into this b.s. with a WFCO WF-8955-AD. My camper has 8 gauge battery wire, so there's a large voltage drop from the WFCO to the Lithium battery. In reading forums, it looks like the WFCO never goes into Bulk mode as a result, and, obviously, the "AD" doesn't do the right thing. This is a HUGE failure on the part of WFCO and the RV manufacturers, as it renders the WFCO charger impotent -- and it breaks this "Auto-Detect" "feature." (As an aside...I had another thought as well: The voltage coming back out of the battery to the power distribution center would also drop in voltage. How does that affect the 12V items in the RV? And if you upgrade the wiring, what happens when the full Lithium battery voltage is applied to the stuff in your camper? It "should" be able to handle it, but...) I made my own jumper to get the WFCO into Lithium mode. I read it's a 1K resistor. Do you think you can Ohm yours out and see what it is? I'd like to know for sure. Anyway, I tried that 1K resistor, and the charger did go blue and start pulling about 700W, but AFTER THE BATTERY CHARGED IT WENT BACK TO GREEN. Are you seeing this? Anywhos, I'm looking at options for my waste of $200 on the WF-8955-AD. I may pull the charger and move it where the battery is to see if it actually works. I may disconnect the WFCO charger completely and buy a separate charger (Progressive Dynamics or whatever) and put that next to the battery. It would have been nice if WFCO and the RV manufacturers actually got together on this and worked it all out, but it looks like WFCO only benched tested their stuff and the RV'ers just slapped it in without regard to wire gauge. "8 gauge supports 55 amps, so what's your problem!!?!?!? Whaddya mean voltage drop!?!?!?!" Sheesh. Oh, I have contacted WFCO support just recently, and I got the same questions you did. I have since been told that the voltage drop is preventing the WFCO from functioning properly, that has ramifications for charging and the battery, and that's that. They didn't offer a jumper. I have read that Lithiums do need to be charged properly to 100% periodically. I have a Victron solar charger that does work and will do Bulk and Absorption modes, so at least that tops off the battery. I have a NOCO Genius 10 that will also do the Lithium charging when I have the battery in storage over the winter. But IMO the WFCO and the camper people really need to step up. Thank you for sharing your experience with this.

@@Milnickel I think your resistor is 100 or 110 ohms, I used 1000 (per a post I found), probably doesn't matter, as I had the same result as you did where it went green. Yes, there seems to be a trick where powering everything down, then powering up the WFCO and then turning the battery disconnect back on turns the WFCO blue again. Great technology! NOT. I think the voltage drop due to the long wire is screwing it up. Meanwhile search for this phrase, where you'll hit a great discussion in the tab-rv community: 2019-tab-400-battery-charging A user in there rh5555 took the guts of his WFCO and wired it up near the battery, got it working, and then he chucked it for a WFCO AD deck charger (!!??). He included pictures and wiring diagrams. So essentially he did away with the AD charger in the WFCO and replaced it with a separate AD charger near the battery. I think AD isn't the way to go and I'd go with the Progressive Dynamics, as that lets you select your battery type (and people seem to like that one, although it's more expensive). Or something else. I think for me if I got the WFCO AD charger working when installed near the battery, I'm going to call it a win and be done. I need some cable-making stuff before I try that, though.

@Milnickel I moved the WFCO-8955-AD converter near the batteries -- no more of that 20 foot of 8 gauge, it's now less than 2 feet to the buss bars where the battery cables are. The battery is about 88% charged. The WFCO powers up in Lithium mode with the jumper and starts charging on high amps (55A), but then it starts cycling among high amps, low amps (30A or so), and 0A/off, as shown by the Victron battery monitor as well as the Epoch battery app. I don't know why it's cycling -- including going to 0A -- and if that will hurt the battery. Is it the WFCO converter/charger? The BMS? Dunno. It is possible that the WFCO is in Bulk Mode at startup and the battery's BMS is telling the WFCO to back off, given the battery has a fairly high charge already, and this causes the cycling. But I can't say I like what I'm seeing, especially not knowing if it's a problem. Unfortunately I don't know if the WFCO was doing this when it was 20 feet away. I don't know what my next step is. I may get a deck charger (non-WFCO) that's designed for this and have an outlet installed near the batteries for it. I guess that's what a lot of people do. I need to talk with the camper's owner to see what she wants to do. I'm curious to know if you have done anything more with all this.

@reneroman1421 I don't know anything about gel batteries, I want to update my rv batteries to lifepo4, and I have to change the converter so the batteries would get a full charge, if I didn't change the converter the batteries would only get 85% charge. You could get ahold of wfcotech.com and ask them.
