For the Rangers: Jake Burger is projected to play 1B, Josh Jung at 3B, & they just signed Joc Pederson for DH. Pete doesn’t have a spot on that team Cubs & Giants won’t be signing Alonso either due to various factors. Pete is a near certainty to re-sign with the Mets on a team friendly deal, since the market for him has completely collapsed.

He could be amazing for us in the rotation and I think he will seize it The reason why you mention Vlad is you are not signing Pete to a big contract, if you can get Pete cheap you get him regardless of what next year might be.

I thought Pete made great stops (not only from the infielders making poor throws, but hard shots going into right field!). The errors that I saw in the few games that were televised, was associated with his throwing. His main problem is not being able to recognize the sliders ending up outside the strike zone. Who cares if he hits 40 HRs, if they're not game changing HRs? Maybe he learned something at the end of the yr, by going the opposite way, rather than pulling to left. That would be great. But chasing balls that can't be hit, because they're ending up outside the strike zone, time and time again, is really hard to watch, a second and third time in the same game, especially with runners in scoring position, or first and second, with nobody out. Hopefully he'll move forward, rather than regress, now that all the right hand pitchers know what his key weakness is in tight situations
