To be fair, at the time it pretty much was. It quite literally took them turning around and becoming the best team in baseball (in terms of record) for them to get to where they are now.

The chemistry is elite. Their bottom half of the lineup consistently steps up unlike The Yankees. The pitching has been a revelation, no one saw that coming but as of the last 2 months Manea, Peterson, and Quintana have all been near aces and now Senga is back plus Severino is solid. The bullpen is the only flawed part of this team and they still have Stannek and Diaz. As a Yanks fan i unfortunately think whoever comes out of the National League wins it this year.
@davesmith23323 ай бұрын
There is no bottom half anymore. There are weapons in every slot in this lineup. Bader excluded, EVERY SINGLE PLAYER has stepped up with a clutch play of their own. Whether it’s defensively or at the plate. Marte’s double to put them up 4-0 yesterday caused an explosion in the crowd.

Mets have had a chip on their shoulder for awhile, especially after last year and Scherzer’s comments about Cohen punting this season. Their super slow start didn’t even make sense because on the paper, the team had a lot of hitters. It took awhile, took time for Lindor to grab the reins and be a true leader. But we’re here now. It’s time to close it out.

don't jinx them, the Mets still have to win tonight and the Padres played even better towards the end of the season than the Mets. Diaz has to improve his control, he throws too many pitches that are way out the strike zone. When he walks people is when he gets in trouble.

@tricdaddy3163 ай бұрын
There’s nothing wrong with throwing outside the strike zone, the problem is Diaz ain’t fooling anyone. Batters are picking up his pitches too easily and they’re not bitting forcing Diaz to throw fastballs in the zone

This is not hyperbolic speak. It’s all true, especially the past 3 weeks. They’re firing on all cylinders and seem to believe in themselves. They play solid ball, they go out there and flat out get it done. They’re all locked in and focused on their task. They don’t try to do too much, are disciplined at the plate, and hungry. They approach the plate and take what they are given. Put the bat on the ball and go with the pitch. 0-2 counts, 2 outs in late innings, down, doesn’t seem to phase them.
@Standdividedfalltogether3 ай бұрын
If the yanks loose to the royals and Mets go to the World Series, Boone gets fired and Mendoza is manager of the year… I’d maybe feel 2% better and Yank fans would feel 10% of what Met fans dealt with for Daryl doc and coney.

Sal is the worst for his trash ass Mets takes this season. He was screaming because we didn't get Snell or Montgomery or why we didn't trade the farm for bats, etc. When we didn't overreact to how we started the season, he did. Tierney already had Lindor as a bad trade. Glad we REAL fans didn't lose it and stayed positive in spite of. Hilarious to even listen to these 2 now after being so wrong about team & especially David Stearns. 😅 LFGM!!!!

Guys like you come out from the weeds with this but he has to do it for a living everyday. He can't hide when it's going bad he still needs to show up. Don't get me wrong he's a clueless tool, but not for the reasons you're stating. Imagine the Mets would have gotten Snell at the deadline as a 2 month rental and he's starting game 1 of a World series for them? The answer is simple, even ownership didn't think this was possible with this team.
