I think for the Dodgers to shutout the Padres and score 8 in an elimination game @ a hostile ballpark like Petco was big for their confidence. I think it rid themselves of a lot of demons. They have faced all their nightmares and still pushed to a 5th game. They are going back to LA with more confidence than they have had inna long time. I agree it doesn’t affect the Padres except that they are now facing a team that knows they can win it all. Padres will be hungry to get on board first so Darvish can do what Darvish does. Going to be a great game.

The Padres screwed the pooch going with cease on short rest in game 4. He was looking tired in game 1 and he has been looking worse and worse over the last month of the regular season. Darvish who wasnt scheduled to pitch a game 5 now has to go into a hostile enviroment where he has seen himself lose an elimination game before in the world series game 7 lose to the TRASHstros. Dodger fans will be heated after the disrespet the padres were giving in game 2. The taunting and showboating is fresh in their minds. The baseball gods have been watching and if you had to choose one or the other asking yourself who has played the game "the right way".......Machado base path on the infield grass, the taunting, showboating, disrespect during interviews, throwing balls at oppossing dugouts, wanting to fist fight in the parking lot but not really doing anything, and the padres organization not selling tickets to dodger fans.......The baseball gods dont miss anything and when you least expect it and least want it.....the baseball gods come to collect

@@BobSmith-qh1ej Agreed, Dodgers had some pretty hard hit balls in big moments that found gloves last time, and now Mookie is hot, and they can have a short leash with Yamamoto because of the trust the bullpen built yesterday. The Mets?” He wanted to win and hit in a ballpark that he thought suited his style a lot of people thought this was a balk year and throughout the year when they started winning they still say things like “if they make it to the nlds then that’s a good year” which it would have been but I never thought that I always thought since bringing up iglesais up they had the secret sauce and senga wasn’t even back yet and manea started to turn into the ace he’s become. It’s just too cool!!! I’m 29 I’ve never seen them win it all only watched one World Series and a crushing nlcs and this year trumps both of those years! This team just feels different and special! Let's go Yankees. And hopefully give MLB the World Series everyone wants to see, even if they can't bring themselves to admit it. Ohtani, Betts, and Freeman vs Judge, Soto, and Cole. Star power was everywhere while MLB's biggest World Series rivalry rekindled. Beating the Royals brings back late 70s and early 80s vibes. Had the Dodgers played and beaten up the Phillies it would have mirrored 1977-78 exactly.

If not for the bye, I believe all of the favored teams would have performed better. The Yankees would have swept, the Dodgers would have swept or won in 4 (the Padres are better than the Royals), Philly may have lost but not so pathetically, and Cleveland probably wouldn't be on the brink. There's no shame in losing to Skubal, but what about game 3? The long layoffs hurt the bye teams. They should move up the DS to Friday, if not Thursday, depending on whether both series in a league are swept. If one goes to three games, then make it Friday. If not, then Thursday. Five days off is simply too much.

The Phillies were a .500 team for the last 2/3’s of the season. All the Phillies coverage outside Philly really tends to overrate them coming into the playoffs. They have a great 1-4 in the rotation and some great bullpen arms but their offense is way top heavy and lacks consistency. The seeding is what it was based on how opposite the teams performed the first couple months but the Mets have been a better team for a long time now. All this shock is bizarre.

I've been writing my perspective on videos across the jomboy media comment spaces. I kind of feel obliged to write one here. As a long-time Padres fan, I'm feeling somber. It's rough to see a team take that bad of a beating, and knowing that your team historically has the most losses of the MLB since their first year in 1969, it's really hard to face the fact that our season might be over on Friday, and we may not know if we'll be back to try again in a year or 10. I recently saw a Phillies fan talk about the heartbreak of not seeing a World Series since they were 12. Consistently here the Dodger's complaints of their team even though they're having the best 15 year stretch of their whole franchise history. Even the Angels having a World Series title in this millenia and having their postseason woes in that same time. And all of that is not to say that they have no reason to complain, every fanbase was raised differently than others for many different factors. But what I can say is this. I was 2 when the Padres went to the NLCS in '98. I was graduating high school when after a historic offseason, the Padres were still mediocre as ever. 2022 was a whirlwind for a guy who hadn't witnessed a playoff berth since I was 10. This short stint of winning these past 4 years has Padre fans wired. I remember having so much nerves when we had first place for the first time in YEARS. And with the amount of dialing down the organization did after Peter died, it feels insane that we're at this doorstep again. But if they lose, and the Padres regress to where we've been for years before? Well, Padre fans will still go to games, everyone enjoyed the games at Petco even without the winning (I, myself, still had a decent time after witnessing the carnage of Opening Day 2016). And every year, Padre fans will still have hope. They may not sellout, but they will still be loud. And they will still love this team deeply Jon Bois said something about the Mariners, how if all you care about is winning and losing, you will never understand this team. The same goes for the Padres. Winning or losing was never high on the priority list of a Padres fan. All you had to do was just love this beautiful city of San Diego, and boom, you get it. I really don't know how to end this. I'm hoping this isn't the end of the run. I just want a good ass game P.S. those nerves Jolly said he didn't want to have, well I'm glad he isn't having them but WHY ME? Friday can't come soon enough, just break my heart or make me happy already! P.S.S writing all of this out has made me feel considerably better. Journaling works. Anyways, back to actual work

That's weird that the Mets weren't the better team because they were the better team in every single aspect of the series, aside from walking Bryce Harper for no reason, the Mets were deeper, pitched better, got bigger hits, hut bigger homers and closed out their wins when they had leads. So in a sport where series' show who the better team was, the team that won 3 of 4 and really actually deserved to sweep, the Mets were in fact the better team.
