Notice that when Gary approaches the camera, his left hand is behind his back. When watching MASH, notice that his left hand is always hidden behind a clipboard or his teddy bear. Gary was born with a deformed left hand that was missing fingers. He was one of the first long term, truly physically disabled actors to appear on TV for any extended period of time-without being a token disabled character. Just an interesting fact. By the way, you'll never watch MASH the same way again without hunting for the rare moments of the quick exposures of Gary's left hand. You're welcome. :)
