Brendan, You should try putting your catalog on Dropbox! I have my catalog and the last years of pictures on my Dropbox account in the cloud and that account is synced locally (where I use it to work on stuff and add new photo's) and it's also synced to my Synology NAS at home as a third backup. Works fine for me, and my photos are always backed up!

That's a really good idea. I can't believe I didn't think of that. :D Thanks!

I know you use at least one of Amazon's storage products, but have you considered using Google Drive/Photos as a backup, too? Their storage plans are about to be $9.99 (US) a month for 2 terabytes. I imagine you need quite a bit. Just a thought. I don't do much storage wise (just a local drive and paying for Google's storage) but I imagine you need to be a bit more careful! I mostly went with Photos ever since launch, as the search is incredible.

I look forward to your Ireland trip. The Wild Atlantic Way takes you to some beautiful scenery. Achill Island, Doolough Pass, Killary Ffjord, Clew Bay, Doolin, the Burren...some of my favourites, so much to see!

Hi Brendan. I keep my catalogue on an external hard drive so I can switch between my pic and my laptop. I was going to use drop box but work a lot where there is no internet so worry about access to it.

You've been a vlogging machine for a while now. More so than any of the people I subscribe to. By far. Seems like every day you answer a question without me having to ask it. I attribute that to your pace. More posts= more info. Better chance of info "landing" somewhere where its relevent. (If that makes sense).
@twiztedzero16856 жыл бұрын
I like to do it the easy way, and pull the hard drive from the old one and put it into an enclosure then install a reasonable smaller hard drive into the old one and give it or sell it knowing nothing of mine can be recovered from it that way. It's just less hassle.

Working on external drives with kilometers of cables attached to it is comfortable... Yeah, right. I know you're sponsored by Sandisk, but don't jump to far, man. ;-)

What I meant/decided/said in a jumbled mess is that I'm going to backup my lightroom catalog on the disks. I think that's the best solution, and actually something I should have been doing ages ago.
@pawesedrowski67436 жыл бұрын
Ok, maybe I misunderstood. You should think about a remote backup solution like a cloud or a remote server - all your stuff may get stolen and this would protect you from loosing everything. Peace!
