That's what it's all about in this game. Makes me think back to the astonishing Secretariat and all the massive amounts of money changing hands for years to get his offspring only to find out at the end of his life via necropsy that his secret was not genetics, but a fluke of birth. His heart was twice the size of an average horse. All that money and no good performers much less one of such greatness.

He's 16.3 hands,that's pretty average for a thoroughbred. The racehorse Zenyatta was a massive 17.2 hands, that would be considered bigger than as you put it, "normal horses."

Most thoroughbreds are in the 15-16 hand range. Many are even in the 14 hand range. Sea Biscuit was only 14.2 hands tall. However the taller they are the longer their stride when running which can be an asset to them.

If you can arrange it go to Keeneland in Lexington KY to see the live races in April and October. It is the classiest track, to me anyway. And it’s an inexpensive day out just to hang. The sheer power of these horses!

Yes he did. The 1988 Belmont was won by Risen Star by 15 lengths. That was Secretariat's son! He was more know for producing great brood mares. One of his daughter's won horse of the year as a 2 year old. Genetics are not an exact science. If Secretariat was to reproduce himself I believe he would have to be cloned! He will always be my favorite. Justify does resemble him, he is a fine looking horse.

printaboul Yes the first horse out his name is Sunny. People call him Justify's pony ha ha too cute. Race horses are very high strung animals so to calm them down & to keep them company they have a companion horse. Sunny always travels with Justify in the vans like this, Air Horse one, & is next to him in the stalls. American Pharoah's buddy was Smokey.

When you see the horse accompany the race horse on the track he is there to calm the race horse down. Because the race horse is super excited & very high strung.

No, American Pharoah is. Justify is the modern Seattle Slew; following undefeated on the heels of a pull away drought breaker a few years after people are reassured that TC champions are still born. He's well behaved here, but per his entry in American Classic Pedigrees, "According to his (Justify's) connections, he is highly intelligent and eager to learn but is also dominant and inclined to bite." Not the sweet disposition of American Pharoah and Zenyatta, then. I would venture a guess he has been eager to learn his new job. (Though that is not always the case.)
