Great performance, Matteo, congratulations for the third place! You mentioned your problem with the backache: I know this issue very well! I have always pain in the back during CX races, in particular when the route has many steep uphills. Apart from the fact that I am an old amateur (49 years old, 🙄) and you are a young champion, how do you cope with this issue? Just with core training? Do you thing is enough? What kind of exercises do you suggest to reinforce the back? And what about a good bike-fitting, specific for CX? Thank in advance for your insights.

Of course, everything starts with a good bike fit. I do this at least once a year because my body is still in full evolution. I normally do core stability exercises 3 times a week. What I sometimes experience as a problem is that you have made a fall or a slip during the race, this sometimes causes a blockage in your back that you do not notice at first but that still requires a check-up by the physiotherapist. It is of course a very taxing sport for the back. Almost every rider complains about it.
