What a FERRARI MASTER TECHNICIAN thinks about my FERRARI F430!!

Josh Hill returns to my garage to dispense more of his wisdom of Ferraris. This time he hooks up his Texa Software to my F430 to check out it's overall health and gives it his blessing before it departs one last time.
Josh looks into the ignition system of the F430, discussing why Ferraris have historically used 2 separate computers or ignition systems, one for each bank of the motor. This leads to some interesting tips on how to troubleshoot some common problems that can happen such as bad ignition coils or failing O2 sensors.
After checking out the F430, we plug in to my 458 and try to diagnose the active headlight controller error that it currently is experiencing. Unfortunately his computer does not have the headlight adapter module so we were unable to diagnose the problem.
Finally I adjust the headlights on the 458 so they are not pointing so high. I'm pretty sure I was driving around blinding everyone as I was getting high beams flashed at me a lot.

This guy speaks my language. From what I understand, these cars have to be kept on a battery tender. Now hearing about the prehistoric computers Ferrari uses to run their advanced engines and other systems, you'd be surprised at the amount of bogus codes that will be thrown due to slightly low battery voltage. Thus the code that was stored for your HVAC system. Also more reasons reprogramming is required nowadays as a vehicle ages. As parts get worn, parameters have to be changed. Doesn't necessarily mean there is an issue. But yea Dan, it all looks good!

Not only those cars, all the new cars with computers have that issue, doesn't mater the brand, once the voltage of the battery drops under 11.80 volts, some of them even 11.95 volts even with the engine not running the computers will experience a lack of power supply when the engine cranks and will not run properly throwing up loads of codes that are ghost codes as they do not exist, its just a bug that is caused by low voltage. So many cars i had done code reading and the battery is the cause, so next time your car has loads of warning lights and acts like crazy it worth to check the battery health, even with a multi meter, with engine off should be between 12.1 to 12.6 volts and engine running is normal to have 13 to 14 volts.

Which ever Ferrari shop employs Josh is lucky, not many mechanics have the technical skills of a mechanic and the mindset of an engineer. A lot of mechanics lack the deeper technical mindset and on the flip side a lot of engineers lack the hands on mechanical skills. He seems to have it well balanced. Assuming of course Josh isn't a degree'd engineer.
