the consensus is that this song is about addiction but it has a very different meaning to me. I am a sexual assault survivor and that type of trauma leaves lifelong demons that can come out at any time and for any reason. I have been with my boyfriend for years and we cherish the times the demons are quiet and we can just be. The lines that hit the hardest for me are: kiss the skin that crawls from you & it feels good to be alone with you. (I have no shame about this so it is completely up to you if you want to read my comment during the reaction)
