So I invited my guy over for dinner a few weeks ago (spur of the moment) and he said that he'd had a horrible day and a really stressful phone call and didn't think he'd be very good company that evening so he turned me down. At first I took it as rejection so have been afraid to invite him over ever since for fear of being rejected again. But I did give him the benefit of the doubt and kept going. And he has continued to show nothing but secure interest in me since then and we've been out a few times as well. I'm guessing, like you said, he was just not feeling very successful that day and didn't want to exhibit that in my presence. That's kind of what I'm getting now from what you're saying. Glad I didn't sabotage anything by taking it as rejection.

i have been dating a guy for 6 months and he has been hot and cold but he keeps telling me he is interested but is really busy and dealing with a lot of stuff, but sometimes he ignores my texts, he also says he wants to grow and take things slow and he thinks that i think he’s not moving fast enough for me. He tells me that he doesn’t want to hold me back, but he doesn’t make an effort to go on dates anymore with me, or call, or text sometimes, he is avoidant and an introvert, we still haven’t had sex.

Sadly it was a pattern of him coming in and saying he was going to do this this and this and there was NO follow through. I never asked for any of that, and he disregarded when I brought it up. Would leave for 4 days come in the EXAct same way disregarding the messages or conversations we’ve had. I never asked for anything. He kept offering things and never gave them 😂tf So I decided to work on my anxious attachment as well as going to videos like this. I did text him since he’s not available barely ever that I would not accommodate the things I have been doing as he continued to do this. That was my no contact exit. It hurts but I am focused on bettering where I am and healing. There’s a small hope but I’m not feeding it.

What should I do.... My husband and I are separated and are trying to reconsile. But he only will communicate via text. He wont honor my needs of phone calls or video, even tho he wanted this himself... He says he will but then he doesn't and ignored that this hurts me. he says he can't make time (even tho he does have the time, since he texts me a lot thru out the day and I've lived w him and know his schedule... He gets off work at 1:30 pm and doesn't like to have hobbies, which are his words). He is giving me hot/cold signals and I don't understand bc he says he wants me back home, and then breaks promises to call... and when i express my needs to hear his voice and progress back into each other's lives, he simply demands I move back home bc he's lonely, has needs, and can't find time to call me but he can find time if I'm home (we are two diff countries with an hr diff in time zone). I strive hard to meet his needs and honor his boundaries. There doesn't seem to be the same reciprocation, even tho his words say he wants me, loves me, wants me to move back.... But he refuses therapy, won't respect my needs of us progressing our communication before we are in person, and when I try to share my feelings and needs, he gets defensive and doesn't acknowledge my needs, or makes any efforts towards them Idk why he won't call and only do text. He's been saying he'll call or video and it's been months of promises he's breaking and not making efforts to keep his word w actions. I thought we were progressing and this is very confusing to me. When I try to lovingly bring this up, he gets mad and annoyed, and tells me about his needs and how I'm always trying to start things, even tho I'm simply sharing mine bc he asked. He doesn't acknowledge my needs other than to berate them. I listen to his needs and try to tweak things on my end to address them in ways that will make him happy, but I don't seem to get the same back. He gets very defensive when I express my needs or suggest a call. Idk what to do and my heart is broken

If he is listening and hearing your needs, and not reciprocating, there is your answer . Do not text back. Give him space . You cannot control his behavior, nor should you! You can ONLY control YOUR behavior. Learn the art of lovingly detaching. This doesn't mean be rude, or let go. It means to not perseverate, ruminate or obsess. Right now , you need to work on yourself. Learn about boundaries, NOT rules. This can be a boundary! For example, I like hearing your voice, and look forward to your calls. When I get a text , it's nice thank you ! I won't be texting back unless it's an emergency situation. Photos are welcome, and I do enjoy seeing those, they are not my primary form of communication. A boundary is what YOU will or will not allow into your bubble. It is a fence that protects you ! It is not punitive nor judgmental . It is for your peace of mind .

This is a bit of a truth dart here...if he cannot make the time to call you, he is not putting in the effort as much as you. He is dismissive of what is of import to you. You say you have been separated. Who innitiated this? How long have you been separated? Why do you want to reunite ? Obviously there was a breakdown and something different is needed. If you had never met this man before, and this is a brand new relationship, what do YOU want in a relationship? How would YOU like to be treated. What would or wouldn't you allow ?

He’s avoiding the confrontation, he knows you will have questions or requests that he is unable to answer or not ready to take on and he also knows it will create a new obstacle to you both reuniting which he is trying to avoid. Unfortunately, he’s demonstrating that he wants you back and also is not ready to make changes in order for that to happen. If you allow this you will only be messaging to him that he does not have to make concrete changes in order to have you back. Stick with your boundaries.

He was VERY complimentary towards me., told me the first night we met (we were fixed up ) when he left me, got home and pinched himself to make sure he hadn’t just dreamed me up ! We have gone out about 5 day dates in a row( I think his way of taking it slow) but all dates went on into the Eve., last time I saw him, 3 days ago he even asked., if we we’re still seeing each other in 2 months would I meet him on vacation in January. He stays in Mexico for 2months. I accepted. That night we both drank too much I offered my couch but he was not happy about that left my home., haven’t heard from him since! We aren’t kids. He’s 69 in very good shape, I’m petite, natural white blonde hair have taken good care of myself and am good looking 63 yrs old. Haven’t heard a word from him……. After just 5 dates I’m not tracking him down… this is just the facts of what we as women deal with! I live in a smallish city and I’m tell’n ya this dating stuff is hard. I’m thinking after first of the year a dating site. Anyone have advice what is the best site for my age group would be??? Ugh this sounds so hard up….
