What was Dettori thinking on the turn home? Kyprios and Mojo Star were running on and Dettori should've trailed them into the race and when they veered toward the fence he would have been left with a clear path to the post without needing to change direction. He gave up a lot of ground and momentum pulling out so wide on Stradivarius.

Correct, he would have won if he kept that true line and popped out once through the traffic. I was on Crispy Cat in the 1st and exactly the same happened, could get a run, cut inside and then got blocked by the donkey that won the race. Would have won going away. Had £100 E/w on it, pff

Agreed. I couldn't see anything wrong with keeping the rail all the way home. He probably watched too many replays of last year of how he got held up before the turn in. I mean I look at Burning Victory's run and Strad would've crushed them had he been anywhere near that rail with the ground so firm there was no way Kyprios would be able to handle him. It's getting pretty easy to blame Frankie these days and I can't see a way to excuse him in this 1 today

Not really, Stradivarius gave away more ground than he lost by, in a stop start race for him, not just at the end of the race, but when he was made to drop back through the field when going well, think Frankie thought he was riding Enable in her prime, he dug an hole for Stradivarius that was near impossible for him to Stradivarius to get out of,

Mojo Star fastest horse in the race however he got outstayed and ended up a slow finisher. Kyprios really fast also and more steady, Stardivarius was competing but Kyprios always had him imo. Good winner, impressive times by most though, good Ascot Gold Cup.

I have a lot of time for Dettori but some of his riding lately is hard to understand. This was another horrible tactical misjudgement. Stradivarius is a thorough stayer so why have the horse near the back in a slowly run race which ended with a two furlong dash. He was in totally the wrong place coming into the straight and if you court disaster you often get it.

Likewise, I have lot of time for Dettori, but I think he overthought his tactics and got it wrong. Some experts say that if he waited for the gap he still would not have won. I think if he waited for the gap he would have won with the turn of foot Stradivarius showed. My money was on Moore and Kyprios, but I would not have been sorry to see Stradivarius equal Yeats with four Gold Cups.

I backed Stradivarius and Mojo Star with a saver on Kyprios. Ah! tbh I think had Frankie been able to get out when he wanted - Stradivarius going better than both Kyprios and Mojo at the time. The fourth came from the back and found an easy way through up the inner. Had Frankie done the same would've won. That said, had he done so rival jockeys would be more likely be looking for fancied horses and closed the door. As it was first Ryan and then Rossa Ryan brilliant jockeyship in keeping Frankie in. That's racing.

So backed Stradivarius with a Kyprios saver. Wanted to also back Mojo Star but as this was his reappearance best to be sure he'd run., so waited. Unfortunately though, this morning with Kyprios extremely short and that stat of three disappointing English runs stat - I laid some of it back. Oops.

Backing the horse / horses I believe are the best value as main bet/s and the lesser value as savers. Sometimes make my own 100% book but here seemed to me (without Trueshan and Scope) Kyprios had more than a third chance, Stradivarius roughly the same, with The Field (together) less than a third. In a slowly run race like that it is easy to get boxed in. The error Frankie made was at the start. He had a lovely position then decided to drop him back further. That is the only mistake he made. Some of the comments criticising him for getting beat on the Queens horse at 2/5 just show the lack of knowledge of most people on here.

Strativarios should of never been back that far, he's a good staying horse, the ground he made up, if sitting in 3rd, he would of put 2-3 lengths on the field...frankie knows that and chose to stay on the rail....

the reason of stradivarius loss very obvious is the jockey lack of strategy ... the connection of stradivarius must think and decide to change the jockey with a fighting heart and a good brain in top of the horse....the jockey is the key of stradivarius loss he is wek for me ....

Stradavarius deserved better today than Frankie whipping him so many times when he got straight and then blaming the horse for his bad ride. Retire him or change the jockey.

In both this race and the previous year Dettori let Stradivarius drift back well off the pace approaching the post the first time whereas in the 3 Gold Cups he won he stayed right up on the heels of the leaders all the way. Why?

If Frankie had stayed on the rail, as he was 7f out, Strad would have had a dream run through and most probably would have won. Instead he moved off the rail, and had nowhere to go, whereas burning Victory who was last into the straight took the inside rail and ran clean through. If only Frankie had held his nerve. Credit to Moore he rode a blinder but best horse lost that day. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, or maybe not !

I really don't know why Frankie, doesn't make more use of Stradivarius, who stays better than any other horses. Frustrating to see a great horse given no chance

What always amazes me is the fact that English tracks are probably the widest but the most horses seems to get blocked or denied a run in the UK. Even in a single digit number field at times. Really strange
