what a strong person. I thought the question she asked about killing the enemy was a bit much, but he answered in an eloquent, powerful, and very thoughtful way. I wish I had half his courage. Not knowing when or if you will ever see your toddler again would be my undoing. His spouse is a lucky person.

Yeah I too found that question a tiny bit inappropiate, if I may say so, but I have read it is a common question civilians tend to ask soldiers. She obviously meant well, even though I personally wouldn't have asked it. But lovely interview nevertheless

Why was the question inappropriate? He is a young man who is killing his enemy, seems a reasonable question and in context. Might be an uncomfortable question but it is valid. I am sure the question is no where near as offensive to this man as the horrors he has already seen and endured. If he survives, he will return to family but will never be okay. Violent conflict is just dumb yet we will always end up in it, unless questions asking why are asked repeatedly and honest answers are found.
